The clock is ticking on The Good Place Season 4 Episode 7.
A year has passed for the Good Place residents and judgement day is here. Literally.

Did Team Cockroach help turn the humans into better people? Or will their failure doom the human race forever?
Saying the stakes are high is an understatement.
This was by far the best episode of The Good Place Season 4. The time for dilly-dallying is over, and Eleanor and her friends threw caution out the window to give the experiment one final shot at succeeding.
It comes as no surprise that Simone spent the entire year collecting data on the neighborhood.
Maybe, this isn't the Good Place. Maybe, it's a test. My best guess...it's some kind of experiment. We're being observed in a closed environment.
Simone
When she first arrived, Simone believed she was in a coma, and everyone expected her to throw all her beliefs away because a guy convinced her she was wrong?
Please, that's not the Simone we know and love.
As someone who has been a huge Simone fan since the beginning, the choices she made were disappointing.
When it came down to it, Simone put her own needs over the needs of others.

Whether or not that was wrong depends on your belief system, but leaving a man dangling over a pit of fire didn't feel like the right choice by any means.
Brent was the right choice. It's not a tough call whether to save Chidi. Because he's a brilliant and kind person with a caboose you can bounce a quarter off of. And I know because I've done it.
Eleanor
Neither Simone nor John even attempted to help Chidi get Brent to safety. If they had all made a solid effort, they could have pulled Brent to safety before the clock ran out and chalked it up to teamwork.
But Simone didn't only leave Brent behind, she abandoned Chidi as well. And somehow, that feels worse than all of it combined.
Have Simone and John officially ruined their chances of getting into the real Good Place? It seems likely.
The Good Place Season 4 Episode 4 Review: Tinker, Tailor, Demon, Spy
The most ironic thing about it all is that Brent may be the only person Team Cockroach was able to change for the better.
The man who was singlehandedly holding the experiment back may be the one who causes it succeed.
I'll be honest and say I didn't see that coming.
But is it too little, too late?
Brent's apology happened in the final seconds of the experiment, and he got abruptly cut off when the experiment ended, and the test subjects froze.
Look, Chidi. Whatever happens next...I need to say this to you. I am so so sorr-

Simone and John may have failed when it came down to it, but did everyone have to succeed?
The point of the experiment was to prove that people can become better if they're not caught up in an Earthly point system, which is poisoned by ridiculous chain reactions.
The Good Place Season 4 Episode 2 Review: A Girl From Arizona, Part Two
Not everyone is going to become a better person because not everyone makes the choice to. But some people can and some people will.
The point Team Cockroach was trying to make is that everyone has the ability to change.
Eleanor, Chidi, Jason, and Tahani were proof of that, and now that Brent has realized the error of his ways, he's proof that the first four humans weren't a fluke.
It all makes perfect sense when you think about it rationally, but will the judge see it the same way?

Now that the experiment has officially come to a close, we may finally get the answer.
Did a girl from Arizona save the human race? Or is it beyond saving?
No! No way! I am not giving up! I told you I only play games I can win. And I played this game, so that means we can win.
Eleanor
The finish line is just up ahead but is it the place we want to be?
Stray Thoughts:
- It was interesting that Chidi was so hesitant to believe Simone when she realized they were part of an experiment. From what we've seen, he's never had trouble believing Eleanor. Maybe Cheleanor's connection is that much stronger.
- The funniest part of the episode was undoubtedly Jason saying two coherent things in a row. Eleanor's face when Tahani worried he was a demon in a Jason suit was priceless.
- He may not be the best at it, but I would pay to see Michael do Earth magic any day. He tried, that's what counts.
- What exactly are the repercussions if the experiment fails? Are all humans doomed to go to the Bad Place forever? Will the Good Place disappear? Could they use the excuse of the Bad Place interfering to get another try? So many questions, so little answers.
