The Crown Season 6 Trailer Charts Diana's Last Days

at .

The Crown has tackled many turbulent times for the Royal family, but the sixth and final season will go one step further.

As previously reported, the series will chart Princess Diana's final days leading up to her death in a car crash in 1997.

Diana notes in the newly released trailer that "the press are on our tails constantly."

The Crown Diana Still

The clip captures several moments of photographers getting too close for comfort.

Whether she's with her children or on a vacation, the press appears, seemingly out of nowhere.

A Very Public Scandal on The Crown

The most significant moment of the trailer showcases Diana accepting Dodi's invitation to go to Paris, but things take a horrible turn when they're, once again, hounded by the press.

We then see various lights turning on in the dead of night at Balmoral, likely due to the media storm surrounding the tragic accident that killed Diana.

As previously reported, the first four episodes will stream on Thursday, November 16, 2023.

The final six episodes of The Crown Season 6 will follow on Thursday, December 14, 2023.

Elizabeth Debicki on Season 6

Part 1 will see Elizabeth Debicki reprise her role as Princess Diana alongside Dominic West as Prince Charles.

Imelda Staunton continues her reign as Queen Elizabeth II alongside Jonathan Pryce (Prince Philip) and Lesley Manville (Princess Margaret).

Also returning are Salim Daw (Mohamed Al Fayed) and Khalid Abdalla (Dodi Fayed). Making their debuts are Rufus Kampa (Prince William), and Fflyn Edwards (Prince Harry).

The final season covers events from 1997 through 2005.

Imelda Staunton on Season 6

Part I depicts a relationship blossoming between Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed before a fateful car journey has devastating consequences.

As for Part II, Prince William tries to integrate back into life at Eton in the wake of his mother's death as the monarchy has to ride the wave of public opinion.

As she reaches her Golden Jubilee, the Queen reflects on the future of the monarchy with the marriage of Charles and Camilla and the beginnings of a new Royal fairytale in William and Kate.

For Part 2, taking on the roles of Prince William and Prince Harry will be Ed McVey and Luther Ford.

Khalid Abdalla as Dodi Fayed

Joining them will be Meg Bellamy as Kate Middleton.

Bringing such a big show to a close is no easy task, but the trailer certainly hints that the show will get its groove back following the less-than-stellar response to The Crown Season 5.

Since arriving on Netflix in 2016, The Crown has been nominated for and won multiple awards, including 15 BAFTA nominations, 10 Golden Globe Nominations (including four wins), 69 Emmy Nominations across five seasons (with 21 wins across four seasons), and more.

The series broke through in a big way with both critics and viewers, but it will be interesting to see whether it ends with grace.

If you're not ready to say goodbye to The Crown-verse, there's good news.

Series creator Peter Morgan is mulling the idea of a prequel series.

"I do have an idea," Morgan told Variety this week.

"Second, it would need a unique set of circumstances to come together."

Salim Daw as Mohamed Al Fayed

"If I were to go back into The Crown," he affirmed, "it would definitely be to go back in time."

Netflix's Ted Sarandos made it clear that the streaming service would be interested in future projects.

"If he believes there are stories to be told there, we definitely would explore it."
