I have to say, I really do find it funny with people that the show's name literally. It's clearly not meant that way. So often in society we see these women stand by their cheating, no-good husbands and often we wonder why. This is a show about that woman. She's the mother, she's the wife, the person that keeps everything together and often pays more dearly for her husband's mistakes than he does. This show is about letting us all know that these women are not weak but strong and also letting the wives know that its never too late to re-start that career. Anyways, with that off my chest, on to the questions!
Well, I think Chuck Lorre is taking both his prime time shows in bad directions. Two and a Half Men stinks, of all the replacements he could have chosen, he had to pick Aston Kutcher? Not only that but the writing has seriously gone down hill. The same goes for Big Bang Theory. The show feels tired. Sheldon's antics are becoming less and less amusing, Penny basically has no point anymore (which I think is a waste of talent in regards to Kaley Cocoa), Leonard is boring, and there's less nerdiness each week. I think this show has the potential to really be good again, but pandering to cheap humor is demeaning to it's audience. And I've already mentioned my issues with this week's episode, so I wont go there again.
*kids are committing suicide over bullying, not Big Bang. Just to clarify
Please forgive my numerous typos, I was in a hurry when I wrote it
Unknown, good for you for owning up. That can't be easy either and now you can teach your children to be empathic as well.
I 100% agree with the reviewer. Yes, its supposed to be comedy but it doesn't making it any less depressing to watch. Maybe Leonard doesn't ever get Jimmy to actually change but the least they could do was call Sheldon out for his verbal abuse. You can see the characters are sick of it and now would have been a good opportunity to address it. I re-watched the first season and Sheldon wasn't a warm, fluffy bunny but he always had his friend's back at least. He was less vicious and more condescending, now he's just an asshole. I don't know why the guys put up with him other than they feel like they have no choice.
Penny grated on my nerves this time around. Even her last minute attack of guilt didn't do anything for me. She basically spent the entire episode in self pity because she felt bad for hurting people. You can't apologize for making fun of someone's stutter in highschool only to hang up the phone and make a crack at it again. If she had actually done some soul searching in this ep, I might have feel differently. Instead she only came off as shallow.
Bully is serious. I hate to burst everyone's comedy bubble but it's a real problem out there. And its not just the kids either but that's where it starts. I might be more inclined to be more understanding of BBT take on bully if kids weren't committing suicide over it.
Penny rarely leaves the her apartment these days, unless its accompanied by Amy or Bernadette. She could hardly be classified as a tramp. Maybe she was sexual when the show first started but she's really not now.
My advice to people watching this show, it's very much about sex. If you're uncomfortable with that, don't watch a show created by Chuck Lorre. You know, the guy who also created Two and a Half Men? Seriously, the slut award goes to Charlie Harper. No one else comes close.
I agree that the change of scenery has been good for GG. Last season was oppressively dark, we all know they're going to be back in New York soon but before that, might as well have some fun. I loved the dynamic where Serena was promoting Nate as some kind of Hollywood-It-Boy, she would be the one to know all about marketing yourself. But not another cougar! The "Duchess" was bad enough.
Chuck has been tied in his father's business too much lately, it's not really a relate able story to the viewers, unless Donald Trump is watching. On the other hand, I'm apprehensive, they have yet to do a successful Chuck-Bass-by-himself storyline.
I'm hoping Dan took some time to make actual friends over the summer, not people who blackmail him or steal novels. Also, his dad doesn't count. He's pining after Blair but that makes little sense after his weird, semi-courtship of Charlie/Ivy.
Blair, what a train wreck of a good character. She's 20. Why is she caught up in worries that a 30 year old would shudder at? This marriage thing is dumb. I hope the producers get that soon. Just because Kate and Will's wedding was popular doesn't mean it'll translate to GG.
I am glad to see the focus brought back to its core characters. Blair, Serena, Chuck, Nate, and Dan. Those are the interesting ones.
Also, everyone hasn't slept with everyone...
There was Penny/Leonard and now a one night stand with Raj...
Otherwise the couples have all been the same...Bernadette with Howard...Raj with no one...Sheldon and his quasi gf Amy.
That's really not everyone sleeping with everyone, considering that it's a tv show heavily involving sex...It's really not that poly amorous. The only other cross over was Leslie Winkler and her character was established as very sexual.
Raj and Penny wont be a couple. They were lonely. They were drunk. And they had the world's most awkward morning after. But I think it causes such a ripple in the group. Except for the Penny/Priya thing they we're all getting along way to perfectly. The lack of drama this season has made things seriously stale. I think this has trashed the Penny/Leonard relationship, finally. It needed to end. Exes shouldn't pretend to date for a camera, it comes off really weak. Can we have something happen in Penny's life that doesn't include an ex?
Otherwise, I LOVED THIS EP. Best of the season. We actually got to see Bernadette and Howard as a couple, instead of just pieces every now and then. If I were Raj I would have punched Leonard in the face by now, what kind of friend has noisy/creepy Star Trek sex with his bro's sister...In his bed? Although now Raj has had sex with Penny in Leonard's bed...So wash on that one. I loved Leonard's convo with his Priya's parents, particularly the ending of it. I loved Penny and Raj getting caught on their walk of shame. Sheldon's confusion. The general chaos that was this finale. I know people are bitter that it wasn't like the previous seasons but you guys were complaining that it was "always just the guys, so boring". Now you're upset that they're including more characters and interactions? I personally love the addition of the girls...except Priya...She's such a weasel...Lying to people, sleeping with her brother's friend in his bed, getting very controlling over Leonard. I. Don't. Enjoy. Her presence. She needs to go. Which she will. Excellent.
I can't wait for the next season.
Also...Chuck Lorre has ALWAYS made poop jokes, jerking off jests, and really graphic sexual innuendos...Before BBT...Remember he created Two and Half Men...
I disagree, I think Alicia did try. And how many times did she give up what she wanted to make her family happy? If her husband and kids had it their way, she'd be the stay at home mom she was before. Peter thinks he owns her. He made that very clear during that final scene outside the elevator. Alicia's entire perspective changed when she learned the truth about her marriage. But she didn't want to hurt her kids. She was a loyal wife and helped him get elected. She was willing to forgive him because she thought she knew the entire truth. She though he'd stop lying to her. But she asked straight out if there had been something between him and Kalinda, they both lied to her face. Her trust for their marriage couldn't take anymore. Alicia has been humiliated, cheated on, lied to repeatedly, tricked, and bullied into supporting Peter. But she's the slut? She's the one that didn't try? Peter is not a changed man. Yes, sending that evidence worked out for her but it could has just as easily blown up in LG's faces! It also took Glen Childs down a notch further, which is good for his career. Speaking of which, Alicia would go against Peter in court. Which wouldn't work out well if Peter was aiming for Governor and needed his wife at his side. Whose career would have to be sacrificed? Probably Alicia's. I don't get how Alicia is the whore for finally having a night with a man she's loved for years and years, after she told her husband that their marriage was over? They're not even under the same roof anymore! Their children know that they're not together but Alicia doesn't want the press to stalk her family. Hence why she doesn't make it official. Alicia had the decency to tell Peter she didn't want to be with him anymore before moving on. Peter never showed her any kind of respect. But society blames the women when marriages fail and it's ridiculous. I also resent being told I don't have morals. Marriage is a beautiful between two people that love and respect either. You can't love someone but not respect them. Peter didn't respect Alicia and he didn't respect his marriage. He broke his vows and lied to her. Alicia is prisoner to his career and ambition. She has right break free. Yes, I know this only a t.v but it speaks about real life issues.
