Joan confronts Elana March about Andrew's death. She denies putting the hit on Joan but comments that she heard Joan had been in the process of breaking up with Andrew when he died. Sherlock tells Joan to let him know when she's ready to start working together. In the meantime, he partners with Detective Bell when two pregnant zebras are stolen from the Bronx Zoo. They track the two zebras to a warehouse near an equine hospital. The zebras are okay but recently gave birth to their babies, which are missing. Sherlock also stumbles across a dead body, a doctor who worked at the equine hospital and delivered the foals. Bells suspects he was a part of the robbery but Sherlock disagrees. They track the missing babies but find a baby quagga instead of zebras as they expected. Quaggas have been extinct for more than 100 years. Joan tells Sherlock why she pulled away last year. She wanted a normal life and something of her own. Now she wonders if Andrew would be alive if she had not wanted those things. Elana continues to make threats against Joan, but she apparently has a guardian angel protecting her. Who is protecing Joan against Elana's wrath? Who helped ressurrect an extinct animal?
