Dr. Perkins: Why did you walk away?
Alex: Look life is too short. I almost died trying to stop that guy. Besides, you know how much tail you get offered when you're carrying a bullet in your chest. It's like I'm a legend.
Dr. Perkins: Are you always this crass or is that a defense mechanism?
Alex: I've had too much crazy for one lifetime.

(to Dr. Perkins) Life is short. So now I think less and just do.

Derek

(to Dr. Perkins as she walks in on him kissing Teddy) So is that what I need to do to get cleared? That was creepy and inappropriate.

Meredith

Cristina: Are you trying to talk me out of this?
Meredith: Look at me and tell me that you're sure.
Cristina: You know, no you don't get to do this. All you get to do is help me break the tie between of the lilies of the valley and the peonies.
Meredith: No, no, I do get to do this. I do get to do this - Derek is the love of my life, but you're my soul mate.

I think your either born simple or you're not. I want to be the person who gets happy over finding the perfect dress. I want to be simple because no one holds a gun to the head of a simple girl.

Cristina

Alex: You look hot. The whole crazy eyes, tight dress thing is working for you for whatever it's for.
Lexie: You think that you're so bad ass because you lived, but I'm the reason why you lived. And while you were dying you were crying out for the wife who left you. So that's the opposite of bad ass for whatever it's worth.

Cristina: I never gave you any crap about your post-it.
Meredith: You look beautiful.
Cristina: I know. How's Owen? Is he good?
Meredith: Owen's perfect. He's perfect.
Cristina: Thank you.

When we say things like "people don't change" it drives scientist crazy because change is literally the only constant in all of science. Energy. Matter. It's always changing, morphing, merging, growing, dying. It's the way people try not to change that's unnatural. The way we cling to what things were instead of letting things be what they are. The way we cling to old memories instead of forming new ones. The way we insist on believing despite every scientific indication that anything in this lifetime is permanent. Change is constant. How we experience change that's up to us. It can feel like death or it can feel like a second chance at life. If we open our fingers, loosen our grips, go with it, it can feel like pure adrenaline. Like at any moment we can have another chance at life. Like at any moment, we can be born all over again.

They say lightning never strikes twice, but that is a myth. It doesn't happen often, lightening usually gets it right the first time. When you're hit with 30,000 amps of electricity you feel it. It can make you forget who you are. It can burn you, blind you, stop your heart. And cause massive internal injuries. But, for something that happens in only a millisecond, it can change your life forever.

Meredith

Go hug yourself!

Meredith

Bailey: It must hurt, does it hurt?
Alex: Nope.
Bailey: Does it hurt when I do this?
Alex: Ow! Damn!
Bailey: It is not fine. It is foreign and it has no business being in your body. Get it out Karev. Or I will see that you do not operate until you are operated on.

April: House fire? Explosion?
Callie: Act of God. Lightening strike.
