Severide is taking lead while Boden is away. Mouch is away and Kylie is filling in for him. A newcomer, Jack Damon, is introduced as a new floater. He says he's been trying to work with the 51 for a long time.

The 51 responds to a scene where a driver has crashed his car into the second floor of a building. The driver is stuck inside the car and Stella makes risky moves to try and free him.

Stella has a close call as the car falls, but she gets out in time. The new guy, Jack, seems very concerned and runs up after her.

Hermann seeks advice from Darren about how to track his kids' location using his phone. He also asks him not to tell Cindy.

Novak attempts to bond with Violet.

The social worker tells Cruz that Javi has a relative from Honduras that wants to visit with him while he's in Chicago.

Novak tells Severide she doesn't want to join Violet full-time and prefers to stay a floater.

Cruz and Javi meet the uncle and Javi invites him to his basketball game.

Violet and Novak respond to a call where a girl has impaled herself on a drinking straw. Novak shows again that she's great with patients.

A reporter is relentlessly trying to get Jack to convince Stella to go in for an interview.

Hermann starts tracking his kids and Darren suggests he may be going overboard.

Carver gives Violet advice about Novak but also tells her he has a bad feeling about Jack.

Stella worries about the future of her program's funding.

Javi's uncle tells Cruz that he wants to take Javi to Honduras. He tells him he will disappear if Cruz gives him $50,000.

Cruz realizes that Javi's "uncle" is probably lying about his identity.

Jack connects Stella with the reporter and suggests that Stella could use the media to help save Girls on Fire.

Hermann notices that Annabelle is not where she's supposed to be according to her phone's location. He tracks her down and discovers that he's been set up when he shows up and finds Cindy there instead.

Cruz sets up another meeting with Dennis, Javi's "uncle." Pretending to give him the money, Cruz has set up a sting operation and Dennis is arrested by CPD.

The interview worked and the funding for Girls on Fire is restored.

Ritter overhears Jack having a suspicious phone conversation that suggests he's hiding something.

Violet shows up to Novak's nunchucks event to support her.

Cruz tells Javi that Dennis isn't his uncle and Javi takes it really well.
