After giving a cash-poor Annie money to help her make rent, Pierce guilted his way into having input to the drug-awareness play Annie was directing with rest of the study group.  Pierce derailed the play's message, so Annie fired him and Chang stepped in to replace him.

Chang tried to cozy up to Shirley who pretended he didn't exist, until he stepped up and helped save Annie's play.
