Alex was stunned to find out he was being charged with felony assault in the second degree. He attempted to focus on work, but ended up putting his patient in danger when he didn't pay attention to his labs. To makes matters worse, when Alex attempted to make amends with Jo, she declared they were over. Even though his patient survived, Bailey decided to move Alex over to the Denny Duquette clinic. As Alex struggled to keep his head up, Meredith made matters worse when she tried to talk to Andrew. 

Meredith told Nathan that Maggie was planning on asking him out, and stated he needed to turn her down gently. Nathan figured this was Meredith just falling for him. When Maggie finally summoned the courage to ask for a date, Nathan did as instructed and said no. Even though she was feeling defeated, Maggie suggested to Meredith and Alex (after Meredith just told Alex about her tryst with Nathan) that she would give it some time and try again.

With baby Harriet in good health, the hospital was ready to release her. Unfortunately April was not ready to leave the hospital and that meant having to say bye to her daughter. Jackson tried to be there to support April, but April didn't want to ask for help. April eventually agreed to consider Jackson's offer of moving in with him, so the family could be together.

Amelia did her best to get Owen and Nathan to open up and be friendly. Her attempts to get them to talk at hers and Owen's house warming party failed.
