Will wakes up to find an ear of Abigail Hobbs' in his sink, and unsure of how it got there with his lapses in time Will calls Lecter. Lecter fearing the worst calls Jack who books Will. Alana is unable to believe that Will is capable of murder, particularly of Abigail Hobbs. Lecter starts to put the pieces in place for the BAU to make them see that Will could also be the copycat killer. Will is unsure of being the copycat killer because he knows he wasn't in certain places during the times of the victims' death.

Will escapes from his prison transport and goes to see Lecter. Will begins to see the stag sculpture in Hannibal's office, and then sees sculptures of the bodies he's investigated. Will puts the pieces together and deduces that Hannibal is the real copycat killer. Will wants Hannibal to take him the Hobbs' house. When inside Will tells Hannibal he knows who he really is, and he can longer pull the scales over his eyes. Just as Will is about to shoot Hannibal in the head, Jack shoots and wounds Will in the arm.

Will is booked and put in jail, and Hannibal later visits him with a knowing smile.
