Bohannon reaches the logging station only to find that Harper has fled. He comes close to catching up but a bullet to his horse stops him.
Upset, Bohannon gets drunk. He agrees to look the other way for the Swede and his men to take some extra black powder of the train, but gives the money to a prostitute.
Lily Bell is taken in by Thomas Durant. She knows of his money desires and panders to him for the time being as she learns of his plans.
The prostitute, Eva, who previously denied Elam comes to him and agrees to sleep with him in secret.
An accident occurs involving the black powder. Bohannon helps rescue the man that he had shot in the ear before.
Bohannon gets back to work as the new foreman.
