Annalise's mother visits and the reunion is tense from the start. With Ophelia chastising her daughter for changing her name and living in a rich house, the two have trouble communicating. 

Later, Annalise confronts her mother about the abuse she suffered as a child at the hands of an uncle. Ophelia isn't very receptive to this and informs Annalise that she, along with other relatives, were also raped by men growing up. Annalise asks her if she knew what the uncle did to her and she doesn't deny it.

Before leaving, Ophelia goes to Annalise and reveals that she was responsible for the death of the abusive uncle. 

Bonnie and the team take on the case of a female nurse, Jolene, who is being accused of raping a male patient. At trial, the prosecution finds a website in which Jolene detailed her encounter with the patient. However, it is soon revealed that the patient was gay and in a relationship with the lawyer of the hospital. The two of them were conspiring together to set Jolene up and then get the money from a settlement with the hospital. Once this is found out, the case is dismissed. 

Rebecca goes to the police and tells them that Nate asked her to plant evidence at Sam's house and she refused. This lie causes Wes to doubt her and he goes to the police to find out more information about Rudy Walters. He finds out that he overdosed the last night at the apartment. Catching Rebecca in yet another lie, he and Laurel go to visit Rudy at a psychiatric ward.
