A family is in NYC looking at colleges for the older girl.

Someone's mother wants to see photos from a trip.

The family from the first scene goes into the subway.

A bunch of kids graffiti a store and get yelled at in Spanish by the owner.

The family sees a professional violinist.

The vandals come into the subway station.

On the subway, the girls play on the poles. The wife takes away teh husband's phone. The kids from before show up and steal the phone and take out machetes when the father confronts them.

Benson and Fin come to the station. ROllins is back to join them. The 14-year-old was raped. The father is in critical condition in the hospital.

McGrath shows up and introduces Benson to a Bronx captain who is sure this is the work of a Bronx gang.  Fin and Benson are annoyed that McGrath pt this guy on the case. Benson talks to the guy who says this is McGrath's orders.

Rollins talks to the victim and tells her she is brave. The girl asks about her dad. He's still in surgery. The girl is upset. Rollins needs to ask her some questions.

The older sister blames herself. Velasco tells her it is not her fault. All she could see was their eyes. They were laughing when they left. Why did they think this was funny? The mother said she heard something.

The phone has been found. The gang stole some money from the father's accounts.

McGrath shows up. Benson wants to know why this guy is in her squad room. McGrath says he is a good cop despite the rumors. The guy got jammed up for going too far a few years ago. He says she is complaining about short staffing and she should be happy  about this. FIn interrupts that the machete has been found.

Nora IDs her rapist and the other one who was graffiting the train. The mother IDs the machete wielder. A doctor interrupts with the bad news that the father has died.

The rapist is "Pretty Ricky" who is sixteen. The other one was fifteen. The murderer was named Sleep because he has killed four people before with no charges. They have plans to flip these guys up to get the head of the gang. Benson is more concerned with getting the rapist.

Velasco talks with a female gang unit cop who is annoyed that he answers in one word answers.  They go to talk to Sabo's mother who claims he is a good boy who would not do this. They convince her to tell them where he is. The mother confronts him in the bath. He is arrested.

Sabo says Ricky made him do it. Sleep was the one who killed the father. He just held the girl down. The cops threaten to put him in jail with his gang's sworn enemies unless he tells them where Ricky is.

Ricky is arrested and claims he isn't named Ricky. Sabo asks for a lawyer and won't give any more info. No one will turn on Sleep. Benson sends Velasco with the gang guy.

Velasco has worked with gangs before and is familiar with this one. Velasco realizes he wants to bring justice to non-white victims. However he likes working SVU and doesn't want to work with this guy for a year. The guy gives him a card.

Duarte and Velasco talk to Elena, Sleep's girlfriend, who doesn't want to talk and believes her boyfriend has been faithful to her. She is upset to her her boyfriend kissed the victim. She gives up the info.

There is a raid at the projects.  Duarte radios for backup. Fin and Benson go p the back just as Sleep falls (or does he jump?)

Fin tells Benson that Duarte has beef with the gang. Benson talks to Duarte. He says you think I pushed him. She threatens to have him investigated. Duarte says he could have used Sleep to get the gang leader. She doesn't know him. He says you heard the rumors about me. He says she knows all about that from Stabler and she's projecting. She says if he keeps this up they will not have a case

Benson meets with Duarte's partner. She wants to know what she is dealing with. She says Duarte is unpredictable but doesn't waver about BX-9 She thinks Duarte is a good cop.

Carisi says the rapists won't make a deal.  They will paint them as unaccompanied undocumented minors and therefore vulnerable. Rollins wants to protect them by not taking this to trial. Carisi says they need to cooperate.

Sleep's death is ruled accidental. Carisi worries that Rollins is overdoing it.

Benson meets Duarnte at a bar. She tells him Sleep's death was ruled accidental. Carisi will indict the rapists, and that takes precedence over his gang case. Duarnte says he made Velasco an offer. She's annoyed about him poaching her guys. But if Velasco wants this, she won't hold him back.

Benson is concerned about Rollins. Rollins has missed her shrink appointments but doesn't want Benson to worry. Benson says Rollins has been shot before. Rollins says you don't want me back? Benson said are you crazy? Rollins says she was supposed to protect that girl. Benson says she did that. She says if it scared me I can't imagine what it was like for you. What happened? Rollins tells her. She recalls not being able to breathe and not knowing where Nicole was. She was thinking about how she might never see Carisi again. She let herself be happy and this is what happens?  Benson says Rollins never had anything to lose before.

Nora and her sister come in. They don't understand why there might be a trial. A defense attorney makes a big deal about how it's innocent until proven guilty. Nora nervously IDs number 4 then says she is wrong, it's number 3. She starts hyperventilating when she sees the suspect and runs away. Muncie runs after her and tries to help. She comes back and IDs the suspect. The parents are impatient to go home but the girls need to stay in the city for a few more days.

At arraignment the boys plead not guilty and are denied bail.

McGrath has a press conference. Duarte says two 15-year-olds in jail solves nothing. Benson says a young girl's life is forever changed. Duarte says the gang is forever because they've put down roots. He tells McGrath they have to get Ricky to flip on his cousin. Benson says want to tell Nora's family that? McGrath thinks Duarte has the right idea.

The boys' lawyers want immunity and say it's not Carisi's choice. The boys may be given immunity and Benson is pissed.

Maxwell decides in Benson's favor. The boys are shocked.

Muncie beats up a vending machine that isn't working. She wants flaming hot Cheetos. Benson can only reach cashews. She tells Muncie she was good with Nora. Muncie says she's the only white girl in the gang unit and can't go undercover so she talks a lot to the gang members' girlfriends. Benson tells her listening is a valuable skill as a cop. She lives with her brother in Queens but misses talking to another woman.

The rapists plead guilty and the Whitmans go home. Rollins appears to be in pain but insists she's fine.  Velasco shows up and Rollins leaves.  HE wants to stay at SVU. Benson is happy to hear it. She is putting him in charge of Muncie, who is starting tomorrow.

Duarte can't believe Benson poached his best detective. Duarte says Muncie is a challenge just like Benson.
