-A dead girl is found in a dumpster. She was killed in a fall but has had her hands torched to hide her fingerprints.

-Jane encourages Maura to call in her biological mother, Dr. Hope Martin as her specialty is identifying badly disfigured bodies. Maura meets Dr. Martin but doesn't tell her who she is.

-The victim, Emma, was investigating the murder of her childhood friend Isabelle from ten years ago. Emma took an alias and got a job working for political candidate Tom MacGregor.

-Turns out Tom's assistant was the girls' camp counselor. He killed Isabelle and made Tom think he had done it. The two hid the body. When Emma got too close to the truth, Tom's assistant killed her as well.

-A lonely Giovanni hits on Angela who quickly turns him down.

-Sister Winifred, who taught both Jane and Frankie in grammar school shows up at the precinct. She's there to help counsel the families of homicide victims but she still scares Jane as much as she did in the second grade.
