Jack explains he was left behind because Sam didn't want Dean being alone. Jack mentions a case he may have found about a man who was murdered and convinces Dean to take him on a hunt. Jack and Dean head out and Dean's surprised to learn they actually have a case in the small town and congratulates Jack on finding one. All the men have a connection to a woman named Harper who works at a bookstore. While interviewing various people the guys are able to figure out Harper has an obsession with romance novels. Dean decides to throw Jack into the mix by appealing the Harper's romantic side and Jack is able to get Harper to trust him. Harper takes Jack back to her apartment where she explains she is bad luck when it comes to men especially after her boyfriend, Vance left for school.
