Gerald and Argent tell Lydia the tale of the Marie Jeanne Valet, the Maid of Gevaudan. They also share that they believe that someone else can help stop the beast - Lydia.

La Bete, or the Beast is taking out people in the area surrounding Marie Jeanne's village. Marie is the best hunter in the land, so she is appointed the leader hunter in charge of killing the Beast. The issue is, Marie doesn't believe in werewolves. 

Back at the school, the Beast is terrorizing everyone. Scott tries to fight off the beast and protect everyone.

Marie Jeanne puts wolfsbane into everyone's beer at the tavern to draw out the identity of the Beast. It turns out, the Beast is her brother, Sebastien. 

Scott struggles to stay alive while fighting the Beast in the library, but thankfully Liam, Malia, and Braeden come in with the assist. But Scott wasn't fighting to win, he was fighting to get his scent.

It took three years, but Marie Jeanne finally caught up with her brother and stabbed him with a spear. As he dies, Sebastien says that everyone will remember his name, but Marie Jeanne promises that no one will. History might only remember him as a beast.

Marie Jeanne burned every detail of Sebastien, and the world forgot the name Sebastien Valet. Once the Beast remembers his name, the teenager will be gone and Sebastien will return.

Scott finds a bloody shoe with the beast's scent and blood all over it in the trunk of someone's car. That someone happens to be Mason.
