It's Jo and Alaric's wedding day on The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Episode 21. Bonnie wakes to a visit from Lily Salvatore, whom she believed to be locked in a cellar in the boarding house. Just as Lily is about to eat her, she wakes to find that both Lily and Kai were a bad dream. 

Elena and Bonnie help calm a very nervous Jo who can't find her shoes on her wedding day, making her barefoot and pregnant. Caroline arrives, back to her old self again, and volunteers to be the wedding coordinator when Jo's original coordinator gets the flu. Her first order of business is to send Matt and Tyler their assignments for the day. 

Caroline apologizes to Elena for the things she said while she was free of her humanity. Elena fills Caroline in on Damon's plan to take the cure with her. Stefan has kidnapped Damon and plans to teach him what it will be like to live as a human.

Enzo delivers an iPod full of music from 1903 to Bonnie to give to Lily since Lily is teetering on the brink of her sanity. While Matt helps Bonnie pick up centerpieces for the wedding, she confides in him about the dreams she's been having. After Caroline apologizes to Tyler for trying to kill him, Liv shows up for a showdown with Tyler over their last moments together. 

Stefan tells Damon that mortality will be his hell because he'll be completely human, working for a living, and the target of every vampire who desires a human life. Damon reveals that he HAS thought things through and they won't be nearly as boring as Stefan believes. Stefan calls Elena who tells him to push Damon harder to give up hope on their relationship. After Elena tells Jo what she's up to with Stefan, Jo passes out.

Stefan pushes Damon by asking him what would happen if he and Elena broke up. When the speech doesn't work, Stefan goes into Damon's head. Damon continues resisting Stefan's suggestions until the point he's forced to face what life without Elena would be like. He learns that Elena put Stefan up to their outing and admits he doesn't know what to do.

Caroline continues running the show at the wedding and runs away from Stefan when he arrives. Damon has stayed behind to think. 

Matt and Bonnie return to the Salvatore house to kill Lily and are overcome by magic. Lily shows up at the bar where Enzo is day drinking and reveals that her family is returning.

Stefan finally corners Caroline and forces her to talk about what happened when their humanity was off. He tells her that he's falling for her and she tells him that the time isn't right.

While Elena looks on at the altar, Damon shows up. He thought he'd decided to stay a vampire and then he realizes that he loves her too much and wants to take the cure. 

Caroline can't find Bonnie, Matt, Elena, or Damon and decides to move the show along without them. They return from a romp in the hay just in time to start the wedding. Alaric reads his vows and then an invisible Kai begins stabbing Jo.
