Bertram has arrived home, and Alma picks him up at the bus terminal.

Bertram has been oblivious to Alma's physical changes. Painted nails, more sophisticated attire, and a different shade of lipstick. If he had noticed, maybe he might have been better prepared.

She'd like to discuss his hobby. He's been thinking about it, too. She regrets the names she's called him of late. She's seen the light. He's not sick. He's a hero!

Bertram is confused. Now, Alma knows someone who needs the help that only he can supply. He'd be doing God's work. Rita Castillo, she says. She's not ill, but she has a husband in a lot of pain.

Rita is sticking out her tongue at Carlo when Scooter calls. She wants to know about the date. Now, she needs him to screw her. Tonight. She needs the compromising photo soon! Scooter doesn't see it happening. But Scooter calls back to get the ball rolling.

She won't go tonight, but tomorrow works. Rita triumphantly taunts Carlo, who grimaces at the same time Alma is pushing him under the Bertram bus.

Bertram breaks the news to Alma that he's out of the snuffing out business, but she's not ready to let it go.

Dee is frantic. She's gotten herself into a situation, she tells Vern. She likes him so much, but they can't see each other anymore. She won't say why. He worries that he did something to push her away. He wants to talk about it.

He's such a good guy, and she thinks he deserves all the happiness in the world. With a kiss on the cheek, she's off.

Grace visits Alma, shocked at the state of her garden. Alma sloughs it off as needing a freshening up.

Grace says that Carlo is something of an ogre before the stroke and used to beat Rita. It gets Alma's mind spinning. She must know more.

Alma baked Bertram a cherry pie so that she can discuss how traumatized Rita is while suffering with Carlo.

He agrees, and Alma is thrilled.

Scooter is excited to be back at the apartment.

They chat about Catherine, and Scooter wonders if she's jealous.

Dee is looking for Scooter, and she discovers he's there. She heads up to the room at the same time Rita is there. She can't believe the bad news and tries to ward off Dee from telling Scooter. She says he's not ready to be a father or husband, but Dee doesn't have a lot of choices.

Rita thinks she's too smart to let one mistake ruin the rest of her life. Dee congratulates Rita. He's all hers.

Rita is seriously concerned about it, almost looking upset to have had the conversation.

Alma wonders if Bertram can break into a house and shares a map she's drawn to help him find and kill Carlo.

Rita shares with Vern what she's doing with Scooter about Catherine and lets the cat out of the bag that Dee is pregnant with Scooter's child.

Rita taunts Carlo again. She can blackmail Catherine since he stupidly put conditions on her inheritance. He's angry enough to try marking a note on his napkin using ketchup.

Catherine has gotten Scooter diamond cufflinks. She bought them years ago for another man. It's shaping up to be his best birthday ever.

Isobel worries that Rita's not taking things seriously enough. She says that if they can't get rid of Catherine and keep Carlo drugged forever, they could always kill him. They've done it before.

Alma is all dressed in black, excited to get the ball rolling on the murder. She raids his bag when he goes to get his coat, removing a syringe and a bottle.

Dee visits her friend at the diner. Her friend had a predicament last summer, and she's considering adoption. She went to St. Anne's through the birth.

Rita and Isobel are drinking. Rita has doubts about killing Carlo. Isobel talks poison, but Rita says they won't solve it tonight. Rita just wants Isobel to promise never to leave her. They're cousins.

Alma and Bertram are waiting it out outside, and she's got snacks.

Scooter and Catherine leave the restaurant, but he's forgotten something at the table. He's got a change of plan, so he's touching base with Vern. Scooter will try to get something started with Catherine at Rita's place.

Isobel turns out the light, and Bertram springs into action. She wants him to flash a light so he knows that he's inside. Is Alma going to try to kill Rita while he kills Carlo?

Alma is outside readying her potion when Scooter and Catherine arrive.

Alma is hiding under a table when Scooter closes the door, alerting Bertram that something is amiss.

Scooter is shirtless by the fire. He tries to engage her in fun by saying that if money means she can't trust anyone, then it's not worth it.

Bertram has been trying to soothe Carlo, who grabs Bertram's gonads. Bertram jams the needle into his neck.

Meanwhile, Alma listens to Catherine and Scooter talking in the living room. She runs out the front door to another car arriving in the drive.

She runs back in and up the stairs. While Catherine and Scooter begin undressing, Vern has arrived with the camera, and it's super helpful that there is a storm so lightning masks the flash.

Catherine is riding Scooter like a horse. Vern is snapping photos. Alma and Bertram are rushing out of the house.

Carlo is dead. Vern might have gotten a snapshot of Alma's head in the living room.

Dee looks at a crime magazine with a distressed look on her face.

Alma looks at Bertram and they attack each other in wild passion.

Scooter leaves the next morning, and Catherine goes to wake Papa. She screams, waking Rita and Isobel.

Dee visits Vern. She tries to explain her situation to Vern, who beats her to the punch. He asks her to marry him. He loves her and wouldn't mind raising another man's baby with her. He bought her a ring.

Alma is pleased as punch at the house. She drives over to see what's going on at Rita's house.

Carlo is being taken out of the house as the phone rings. Catherine answers. Alma calls under the name of Mary Booth. She is planting the idea that Rita killed Carlo.
