Gossip Girl star Blake Lively has landed the lead role in Green Lantern, a live-action film based on a comic book hero, as Carol Ferris, opposite Ryan Reynolds.

Martin Campbell will direct the film, scheduled for June 2011 release.

The studio and Campbell tapped Reynolds for male lead in July, following his performances in The Proposal and as Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

In addition to Gossip Girl, Blake has recently starred in the indie drama The Private Lives of Pippa Lee and will be in the upcoming crime drama The Town.

She's also known for her role in Accepted and in the pair of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants films. It's always great to see our girl get new gigs!

We know Blake Lively best as Serena van der Woodsen, but she's building quite the film resume lately as well. The future is bright for this 22-year-old beauty.
