The Gates Review: "Breach"

at .

After a two week long hiatus from our newest vampire addiction show, I can honestly say I was excited to see what this mysterious community had up its sleeves.

Although "Breach" was very entertaining, I still feel like the writers are somewhat dragging out the main characters storylines. For example, Claire. I know it has only been three episodes to date, but how many scenes must we see of her struggling to be the perfect Stepford wife? It almost seems like this is her one characteristic trait. Thankfully, once an old flame comes into the picture, she realizes just how much she misses the kill.

Claire on The Gates

Okay okay, so we don't know for sure if Christian is an old flame or just a buddy, but the late night text? Definitely reminds me of a booty call. And the interplay between Claire and Dylan is way too predictable. She is lying to her husband who - has every reason not to trust her - and will eventually get caught again in the act. This will most likely lead to a separation, but because of Emily, they will try to work it out.

Another predictable storyline is the love triangle between Andie, Brett, and Charlie. I did like that the writers decided not to drag this storyline out any longer and made Andie choose who she wanted to be with. On the plus side, we are now more likely to see what her powers will or can do to Charlie!

One supernatural character that was brought into light this week was Leigh. She is the only woman police officer on the force. Once the box went missing - her nose started bleeding. If it wasn't for Peg and her witches brew of medicine - who knows what Leigh may have changed into or become! I applaud the writers into having at least one supernatural person on the force because for a while there, I did feel like it was almost ridiculous that there wasn't one.

Which brings up a good point - do you think anyone else on the force has supernatural powers besides Leigh?

I am very doubtful Marcus has any supernatural powers that he's hiding - but what about his new girlfriend Teresa? Seriously, who moves in with someone after a week of knowing them? This relationship has doom written all over it.

It seems like there aren't too many people on the team Nick bandwagon. I for one really like his character. So far, he looks like a very upstanding officer who loves his wife and children. I think there is a lot more to Nick and I for one, am very interested in finding out!

Overall, I love this show. I think that there are so many interesting storylines and interactions between the mythical characters. Until next week, follow the jump to read a few of The Gates quotes!
