HBO Picks Up Aaron Sorkin Cable News Program

Expect a lot of walking and talking in the near future on HBO.

The network has picked up a series from West Wing and The Social Network scribe Aaron Sorkin. It will take viewers behind the scenes of a fictional cable news show hosted by Jeff Daniels, as the program's staff sets out on a "patriotic and quixotic mission to do the news well in the face of corporate and commercial obstacles and their own personal entanglements," according to a press release.

Emily Mortimer, Olivia Munn, Dev Patel, Alison Pill and Sam Waterston are also attached to the project, which will find Sorkin tackling the concept of a fake TV series on an actual series for the third time.

The Oscar and Emmy winner didn't find much commercial success with Sports Night or Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.
