That's Rich: My Top Emmy Moments

at .

I have a much easier job this year than my colleague, Dan Forcella.

While he watched and reacted to the 2011 Emmy Awards on the spot, via a live blog, I've taken a few hours to process the surprising wins and entertaining speeches. Below, I've listed my top five moments from the ceremony, which include a joke about sex with Kate Winslet and proof that full hearts and clear eyes really can't lose...

5. Guy Pearce inserts humor into speech. After winning Best Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or TV Movie, the Australian referred to how frequently he simulated intercourse with Kate Winslet on screen and thanked her for "allowing me to insert myself into your world." He then thanked his wife.

4. Jon Stewart who?!? While The Daily Show host played around in the background, the program's writers proved worthy of their award by delivering a hilarious, poorly-worded speech.

3. A pageant of humor. The Emmys still need to figure out its qualifications in the comedy department - is it actual acting ability? Or one's ability to make viewers laugh? - but the nominees for Lead Actress in a Comedy clearly focused on the latter, lining up like beauty pageant contestants and then crowing Melissa McCarthy after her shocking victory.

2. Jimmy vs. Jimmy! Jimmy Kimmel wrestled Jimmy Fallon for his acceptance speech, only to snatch it away and read to the world Fallon's gracious words about... Kimmel: "I want to thank Jimmy Kimmel. Jimmy has been there for me since Day One, he's the kindest and most supportive person in my life. He would never mock me or belittle me, especially in a large public venue such as this. I love you, Jimmy Kimmel."

1. Kyle Chandler wins. The welcome, most deserved surprise of the night. Did you expect anything else to do in this spot from the guy who penned this FNL tribute?
