History Picks Up Vikings for Season 2

Vikings Season 2 is officially History.

The network announced today that the wildly popular drama, which averages five million viewers and ranks as cable's top-ranked new series, will return with 10 new episodes in 2014.

“Vikings is a win win for us,” said History executive Dirk Hoogstra in a statement. ”As our first scripted series, it has paid off in a big way with critical acclaim, strong ratings and a passionate, loyal fan base. It came out of the gate strong and has stayed on top, solidifying History as a major player in the scripted genre, just as we are in reality. We could not be more proud of the entire cast and crew and everyone involved.”

Season 2 will debut some time next summer.
