Arrow Season 2: New Toys, Major Villain on the Way

at .

Months prior to the October 9 premiere of Arrow Season 2 - and days before the show appears at Comic-Con with a "huge announcement" - producer Marc Guggenheim has offered up a few major teases heading into new episodes this fall.

“The stuff to look forward to the most is all the new toys we’re going to put on the table,” Guggenheim tells EW, emphasizing that the main challenge facing Stephen Amell's vigilante will be the arrival of a new villain.

As The Hood

“Our goal was to come up with someone who was as good an antagonist for Oliver as Malcolm was without being a Malcolm Merlyn clone,” previews Guggenheim. “This is someone who is going about things in a very different way than Malcolm did and is perhaps even more deadly as a result.”

Might he be referring to Isabel Rochev, a shady businesswoman who will be played by Summer Glau on multiple episodes?

We won't know for awhile. But Guggenheim does confirm that Oliver will be faced with issues both professional and very, very personal.

“When we last saw Oliver and Laurel they had that beautiful kiss," he says. "The big question mark that begins season two is, has Tommy’s death affected that relationship in any way?”
