Manhattan Love Story Season 1 Episode 2 Review: In the Mix, On the Books, and In the Freezer

at .  Updated at .

Well it looks like I wasn't the only one who didn't exactly fall in love with all the voice overs from the pilot.

Manhattan Love Story Season 1 Episode 2 is noticeably lighter on them and the episode truly benefits from it.

Now. the voice overs are still there, never really adding anything, but they don't overpower the episode nearly as much. And for that reason alone, I liked this much better than the pilot.

We don't know exactly how much time has passed between Dana and Peter's Statue of Liberty date, but it's safe to say it hasn't been that long. When Peter shows up at the apartment to meet up with his brother, he invites Dana out for dinner and she happily accepts.

Amy tries to back Dana off from being too eager and acting as if she has nothing else to do, but Dana is excited to see where things go with Peter. I laughed when Dana declared...

And after this Sunday we're going to get through a date without one of us crying.

Dana

I'd almost forgotten how awkward their dates in Manhattan Love Story Season 1 Episode 1 were!

Before their date, Dana visits a boutique to do some underwear shopping, you know, just in case. While browsing some really cute lace garments, she spots Peter outside...WITH ANOTHER GIRL!

I have to pause here and give Dana major props for even going outside. I would have waved awkwardly, probably with a handful of panties, then tried to run to the back of the store.

Peter is clearly flustered and although he tries to convince himself he hasn't done anything wrong, he knows better. And then to make things a thousand times worse, he introduces Dana as his friend.

Is there anything worse than hearing the guy you're dating refer to use as his friend?

The whole scene is hysterical, with Dana waving a stolen pair of panties in the air and Peter then offering to purchase the panties for her, since they're friends and all. I felt really sad for Dana, but really proud that she didn't break down. Girl usually isn't afraid to cry in public but in that horrible situation she really held it together!

Amy convinces Dana to join Tinder, today's hot dating app, and Dana sets up a date for herself. But first she meets up with Peter for their date and things go downhill quickly, which seems to be their thing. It's so clear the two of them are crazy about each other and they both get so upset thinking about the other one dating someone else, that they don't even go on the actual date.

Dana's Tinder meet up goes horribly wrong and I bet more than a few girls deleted that app! But one good thing does come from their date, she gets to tell Peter about the shock and awe when she comes home to him waiting for her.

The shock and awe involves going right in for a kiss when you meet someone. It's obviously shocking and doesn't always work, but when it does, there's the awe!

Um, does anyone know if that's a real thing?

In an adorable twist of events, Peter goes in for a sweet kiss and I said awe right along with Dana. The ice breaker gets the two of them to finally talk about their feelings and it's nice to see. Dana has a way of bringing out an interesting side of Peter that you don't see in his scenes with anyone else.

Peter isn't ready for a serious relationship right now but there's so many things about Dana that he likes.

I wish I could just put you in a freezer.

Peter

It's a creepy sentiment but I get where he's coming from. He likes Dana a lot, but he's just not ready to be in a full fledged relationship. And in a perfect world, he would just put her away for a while and come back for her when he's ready.

Life doesn't work like that however and the two decide to take things slow and just see what happens. I, for one, am really rooting for these two!

There's a B plot involving Peter, David and Chloe having a little sibling spat over who gets a bigger bonus from their father at work. It didn't carry much weight with me though and frankly I think any time spent away from Analeigh Tipton is a waste.

So, my fellow love story addicts, what did you guys think of the episode? Are you still liking the voice overs? Are you rooting for Dana and Peter? Did you like the B plot?
