Quantico Round Table: Can Anyone be Trusted?

at .

Alex turned to Simon for help in figuring out who framed her on Quantico Season 1 Episode 3, but, unfortunately, she put her trust in the wrong person.

Below, TV Fanatics Liz Estey, Paul Dailly and Allison Nichols share their theories and attempt to figure out what in the world is going on.

Wait, wait, wait... so Simon got kicked out of Quantico, but he's still an agent? What's your theory on this twist?

Liz: It seems like Simon reports directly to the Executive Director of the FBI as opposed to Liam. My theory right now is that the director doesn't trust Liam and so he snatched Simon up after he got kicked out and trained him separately. Either way, I was right not to trust Simon.

Paul: Simon is a very sketchy guy, and I think there's a good chance he was an agent before he apparently joined Quantico.

Allison: I would hope that there aren’t two undercover agents posing as NATS at Quantico. It would be more interesting if Simon was approached after getting kicked out. I’m wondering of the Executive Director approached Simon after Alex became a person of interest/main suspect of the terrorist attack. It would make sense that the FBI reached out to all the agents that were NATS with Alex, especially the ones she was close to.

Do you think the file Liam gave Alex about her father is actually the real file, or do you think he fabricated it or parts of it?

Liz: I am positive Liam fabricated parts of it. Given that Alex's mom alluded to keeping a secret for Liam, I'm pretty sure he can't be trusted. I wouldn't be surprised if Liam painted Alex's dad as a hero just so she would have an identity crisis and be driven closer to Ryan.

Paul: There's not a chance in hell that it's real. It's not. Liam is up to something, and Alex is going to take him down.

Allison: I think the only thing true in that file is probably her father’s date of birth. Liam is super shady, and he already established that he has a strange interest in Alex. I mean he sent Ryan undercover with the sole mission of getting close to her. Now there’s some secret that Sita is keeping for Liam? Yeah, Liam is working an angle, and he is using that file on her dad to help him achieve that.

Is there anyone on this show that you actually trust?

Liz: I don't trust anyone at this point. I think that's by design, though. The whole point of the show is to keep you guessing who's to blame.

Paul: Alex to an extent, but then again, she could really be the terrorist for all we know, right?

Allison: I trust essentially no one. I’d like to trust Alex, but like Paul said, she could be fooling us all.

Sita revealed that for one year, no one in her family knew where Alex was when she was supposed to be in India. Do you think that this is just a red herring, or did Alex do something potentially shady for a year?

Liz: I don't know. At this point Alex has been portrayed sympathetically so it might be really clever, or just dumb to make her actually a terrorist. I have come to be invested in her character, so it would be disappointing but also a good twist if she's really a criminal.

Paul: I don't know why she would even sell her daughter out, but I have no clue on this one.

Allison: I don’t know what to make of Sita. If she did listen to Miranda, maybe she is trying to lead the FBI astray by distracting them with a fake story about Alex. If Sita is selling out her daughter, maybe we will expose one of Alex’s secrets. If Alex was missing for a year in India, I doubt she was just lounging by a pool. There’s a story there.

Is there any relationship or character on the show that you just aren't into? If so, who and why?

Liz: I am so sick of the writers trying to make Caleb and Shelby a thing. It's like they're both blonde so obviously they'd be attracted to each other. Given what we've seen so far, Shelby is way out of his league.

Paul: I hate Liam. He's a dull character, and I don't see that changing any time soon.

Allison: I’m with Elizabeth. Every time Caleb and Shelby have “moment,” I can’t help but to roll my eyes. They may have had a small spark in the premiere, but that was it. There wasn’t anything more than that.
