Ray Donovan Season 4 Episode 5 Review: Get Even Before Leavin'

Will Mickey Donovan ever learn?

On Ray Donovan Season 4 Episode 5, he and Ray went on a trip to Primm to try and get their hands on the money, but as is the norm with Mickey, he just couldn't follow orders.

To the Casino - Ray Donovan

I just can't fathom why it hasn't come back to bite him in the ass sooner. He seems to think he knows best, but he's the one who gets himself in all of the crazy situations.

As much as I wanted to laugh when I thought the money was being destroyed, I felt bad for the dog who witnessed its owner get blown up. Would it have played out that way if Mickey had followed orders?

Nope.

Like I said, Mickey needs to chill out. Ray was understandably furious with him. Ray has has never really liked his father. That's just how the cookie crumbles.

I can't have been the only one who cheered when Ray smashed his father's yellow jar. It was hilarious, and the reaction on Mickey's face made it all worthwhile.

The scene with the slot machine was just so damn ridiculous. Ray really could have dodged it, or at the very least, slowed the hell down. It just seemed so forced, like everything else in Ray Donovan Season 4

Let's have a chat about Bridget. She's done a lot of questionable things, but it must have sucked finding out what she did about her boyfriend. Something has been off with him since the start, and I'm glad she's a free agent for now.

Hopefully she can stay with her family, and they can all just get along for a bit. That would be refreshing. I did enjoy her hanging around the gym.

She was a great help to Bunchy in his time of need. He must have been pretty happy to have Bridget around to help out.

All of the scenes with Teresa were heartbreaking. There's no way she would willingly leave Maria at the gym with the likes of Mickey. She knows what the family is like, so she must be really battling with the condition.

Hopefully she gets the help she needs and returns for Maria's sake. Bunchy can't manage with the kid alone. That's why he turned to Bridget in the first place.

Bunchy has always struggled being alone, and that's probably exactly how he feels right about now. His efforts to get Teresa back home just didn't pan out the way he wanted.

Deep down, he knows she needs help, but he doesn't want to be without her.

We need to talk about Conor! The dude who thought a hedge funder was a gardener wants a damn gun.

No one in their right mind would trust that kid with a gun, so that's probably why he resorted to breaking into the safety deposit box to get it. Could you imagine if his parents knew he wanted a gun?

They'd probably laugh themselves to death. I just can't shake the feeling that he's going to kill a main character by accident, or severely injure himself.

This hour of Ray Donovan was far from fine. The storylines just seem all over the place to the point that I'm struggling to care for most of the characters.

This once-hot drama just seems to slipping into mediocrity, and I'm surprised it's happening so quickly. Earlier seasons had me glued to the screen, but something just feels off about these latest episodes.
