Rosewood Season 2 Episode 1 Review: Forward Motion & Frat Life

There's a new Captain in Miami. But will this new guy shake up things between our favorite dynamic duo?
A lot of questions arose while watching Rosewood Season 2 Episode 1, more so about Miami P.D.'s new head honcho, Captain Aaron Slade.
Rosewood: You didn't tell me you were going to be...
Slade: The new Captain? Yeah. I know.
Now that Hornstock's been demoted to Junior Detective, Miami P.D. had to find a new Capt. to take Hornstock's place. Having a new person in charge is always weird, especially when you've built a strong bond with your old boss.
Knowing that Hornstock will still be lingering around gave Villa, Rosewood, and even Hornstock some reassurance about this new guy, Slade.
Upon first meeting Aaron Slade, it was clear that he's a charmer, much like Rosie. He's handsome, charismatic, and loves to tell jokes, once again, like Rosie. However, Slade has an extremely snarky side to him, that kind of makes you look at him differently. Being the new guy, it's hard to tell whether you should laugh at Slade's snarkiness and sarcasm, or take it seriously.
I got a front row seat to my first Rosie and Villa show.

One thing that's truly accurate about Slade, though? He's amused by Rosie and Villa. He's heard the rumors about this famous duo and is ecstatic to watch them in action.
Things between Villa and Rosie were still a bit estranged after Rosie revealed he was investigating Eddie's death. But, of course, they both had to put their feelings and pride to the side to help solve the murder of 20-year-old college student, Cassie.
Villa and Rosie were hesitant to work on the case together, but under Capt. Slade's orders, they had no choice. No one really knew what caused this weird shift of energy between Villa and Rosie, but there was no denying it.
Villa: I'm sorry for the things I said. You were right about everything. So, I hope you can forgive me.
Rosewood: Are we talking about Eddie?
It wasn't until the last few minutes that it was finally explained what happened after Rosewood Season 1 Episode 22. Eddie was killed and now Rosie and Villa are teaming up to find out who's responsible for his death.
I would've preferred the issue to be addressed within the first half hour, but I understand why it wasn't. This Eddie situation will most likely be the story arc throughout Rosewood Season 2.
When Rosie and Villa discover what actually happened to Eddie and find his killers, Villa can finally have closure regarding her husband. Who knows, maybe Villa and Rosie will finally take things to the next level. They were so close throughout Rosewood Season 1, but this Eddie thing obviously put a halt into that situation.
Mitchie: You haven't talked to Pippy, have you?
TMI: Nope. I don't know where she is or what she's up to. Obviously, she's moved on.
Speaking of closure, it seemed like Pippy left TMI hanging. Their wedding was called off, Pippy quit her job at Magic City Lab and is now following her dreams of being a recording artist. TMI still has resentment about how things went down with Pippy. She's lost her lover and best friend and has no idea how Pippy's doing.
Seeing how TMI still works for Rosie and is pretty close with Donna, couldn't she have just asked either of them if Pippy is okay?
TMI: Ms. D, with all due respect, what the hell is going on with you?
Donna: My kids are grown, my marriage is over.
Donna came clean to TMI about her new inmate friend, Gerald. Now that Donna's divorced, retired and has grown children, she needs some type of fulfillment in her life. Being a loving and nurturing individual, Donna took it upon herself to help Gerald after learning about his background.
Helping out inmates just may be Donna's new calling. Eventually, I hope Donna will tell her kids about her new venture in life helping individuals that have no one else to turn to. They'll have no choice but to respect their mother's new journey. After all, both Pippy and Rosewood have dedicated their entire lives to helping others, something they most likely learned from Donna.
