Pretty Little Liars Round Table: Where Are The Answers?!?

What is Mona doing?

On Pretty Little Liars Season 7 Episode 17, it was revealed that the reformed villain had an A lair in her apartment.

Below, TV Fanatics Meaghan Frey, Jay Ruymann and Paul Dailly discuss Mona's motive, the Haleb engagement, and Ashley's return.

What's your best guess for why Mona has a lair again?

Meaghan: I refuse to believe Mona is actually bad again. My guess is that she wants to be the hero and save the day, so the girls will finally trust her. So, the lair we saw was her hunting for AD herself.

Her having the missing shovels definitely was meant to make her look shady, but I'm sure she just wanted to protect the girls, and she was one step ahead of them.

Like Paul said in his review, with so few episodes left and the fact that we won't find out AD's identity until the last episode, they are going to start throwing those red herrings at us left and right.

Jay: I think Mona is just trying to figure out the game. She's risking (and possibly has already) falling back into her old ways, in regards to playing with people's lives. Like she said to Hanna, it's an addiction, and asking for her help has brought Mona back to the very thing she was supposed to never do again.

Paul: It's so obvious she's so obsessed with becoming a member of the PLL clique that she's finding a way to save the girls in order to prove she's on their side.

That final scene was tedious and confirmed that Marlene King thinks her fans are as dumb as a bag of rocks. Pretty Little Liars could have gone out guns blazing, but instead, we're being treated like crap and given silly twists that will not make sense at the end of the series.

React to the Haleb engagement.

Meaghan: That was one of the only bright lights in this episode. I loved the throwback to their first time in the tent. I was worried that the semi-proposal with Ashley was going to be all, so I was thrilled when they got into the tent.

Haleb has been through so much to get where they are today. They have had their ups and downs but have always been, in my opinion, the best couple on the show. They deserve a happy ending.

Jay: I really don't care. I don't care about any of these couples. These build-ups should've been in 7A and not wasting all of the time in the last few episodes. We still have no answers.

Paul: I'm with Jay. We've had, like, one answer throughout Pretty Little Liars Season 7 and we're still having to deal with relationships coming full circle. It's too late for this.

Are you Team Peter or Team Mary?

Meaghan: Is Team Neither an option? They both are shady and can't be trusted. I love that the writers felt like they had to reconfirm that Mary killed Jessica this week because they know the fans don't trust them anymore.

Jay: I'm Team Mary. I understand why Mary did what she did; if everyone else on this show is excused for their crimes, why isn't she?

Paul: Team Mary. I trust her a lot more than Peter. Mary was sketchy at first, but it's because of the way she first appeared on the show as a darker twin to Jessica.

Aria Smiles - Pretty Little Liars Season 7 Episode 17

Do you think Spencer would ever run off with Mary?

Meaghan: No. Even though she wants a relationship with her, she isn't willing to sacrifice the rest of her relationships to get it.

Jay: No. Spencer's life is with her friends, and her mother is Veronica. She's desperate to know where she comes from, but not at the cost of everything and everyone else.

Paul: I'm conflicted. Spencer has had a terrible hand dealt to her, and she's still not sure about her past.

Will Aria Say Yes? - Pretty Little Liars

What did you think of Ashley's return?

Meaghan: It was so nice to see one of the other mamas thrown back into the mix. The moms on this show are fantastic, so I love whenever they grace our screens.

The girls are only in their early twenties. It wouldn't kill the writers to remember that they still have parents.

Jay: Where's (the only PLL mom that matters) Ella?

Paul: I was glad the show actually acknowledged she hadn't been abducted by aliens, but the mothers are awesome and need more screen time.
