Still Star-Crossed Season 1 Episode 3 Review: All the World's a Stage

at .

It's never been explained why the Montagues and Capulets have been feuding for as long as they have but there has to be a reason? Right?

After their botched betrothal ceremony on Still Star-Crossed Season 1 Episode 3, Rosaline and Benvolio discover that there just might be a bigger conspiracy behind the ongoing feud.

Benvolio Professes His Love

Renvolio might not want to be together, but they make a great couple anyway, don't they?

Even while they were trying to tell each other they detested the idea of marriage to the other, the sparks were flying between them.

I'm so over Escalus, and I wish Rosaline would be too. She deserves better, but she is still hanging on to the hope that the two of them might get together.

She blatantly tried to make Escalus jealous by extolling the virtues of marrying Benvolio, but it went right over his head. What a shocker when he told her he was moving the betrothal ceremony up.

It wasn't what she was expecting at all (did you see her face?), but she recovered quickly. Lashana Lynch's facial expressions are pure gold, aren't they?

But Rosaline wants what Rosaline wants. She doesn't like that her life is being taken out of her control, but she has no choice. It was a good move on her part when she made a deal with Lord Capulet to make Livia a Lady.

Rosaline might not be able to control her love life, but she can at least use what's being forced on her to her advantage. It was rather clever, actually.

And what was she thinking anyway? Becoming a nun doesn't seem like a good life choice for her, so I'm glad she changed her mind. It would have been a dumb move on her part, and she's way too smart for silly moves like that.

Yet, she continued trying to make Escalus jealous and even begged him one more time to stop the ceremony. She doesn't need to show desperation when it comes to this fool of a man.

Rosaline Gets Engaged - Still Star-Crossed Season 1 Episode 3

She needs to save it for Benvolio because even though she doesn't realize it yet, the two of them are a match made in heaven.

As they start working together to get to the bottom of the conspiracy of who's trying to escalate the Montague/Capulet feud, the closer they're going to become.

They're going to fall in love with each other. We know that's going to happen. It has to.

It's tiring watching Escalus drown himself in sorrow about Rosaline's wedding. He needs to get over himself. Besides, I'd rather see Isabella in charge anyway, so can Escalus go away already?

Isabella's got something up her sleeve. She's a woman who doesn't like to be reminded of her lot in life. She believes she should be ruling Verona not her brother. She was not too happy when he dismissed her after visiting Rosaline and Benvolio in the garden.

The Garden - Still Star-Crossed Season 1 Episode 3

It was just one more thing to show how much of a jerk Escalus truly is. It won't surprise me if she's working on a plan to usurp her brother.

Maybe she's the one behind the big feud conspiracy?

Lord Montague is in seventh heaven with everything going on. He can't wait for the marriage to happen so that he can get the respect he feels he deserves. The guy is deliciously devious. Nothing gets by him, and he'll use every opportunity he can to get what he wants.

And he really wants to see the Capulets fall.

He convinced Isabella to allow him to get his own architect to finish the Capulet cathedral and the only reason he even approached her was that he saw how angry she was when Escalus dismissed her earlier.

The quiet rage flowing through her as she stood outside the door was palpable, and Lord Montague approached her at the perfect time. But he knew exactly what he was doing.

I loved that he paid someone to write a sonnet for Rosaline from Benvolio. How romantic. Lord Montague knows how to play the game, and he's taking full advantage of it.

While he's having the time of his life, Lord Capulet is drowning in a sea of sorrow and stress.

He's broke, and he's finally come to the realization that Juliet really is gone. He's even seen her ghost who gave him a warning, but why is she warning him?

Is she warning him to beware of Montague or his wife? My guess is going to be Lady Capulet. Even though she was quiet this hour, she's' up to something.

We still don't know why Count Paris is hiding in the basement. And she's angry about the Rosaline and Benvolio marriage only because Lord Capulet is bringing the two houses together. She still hates Rosaline. That hasn't changed.

Maybe Lady Capulet is behind the feud conspiracy?

It's not surprising that Count Paris and Livia are falling in love with each other. They make a cute couple, but she needs to beware. I'm surprised she hasn't asked the question of why he's hiding, yet.

Isn't it suspicious that no one knows he's alive except for three people? Not even Lord Capulet knows. At least I don't think so.

Still Star-Crossed Season 1 Episode 3 Quotes

Rosaline: So, I'm to stand in front of all Verona and promise that one day I'll be married to a Montague.
Livia: I still say it's better than praying your life away in a nunnery.
Rosaline: It's not about praying or God. It's about living a life that's your own instead of some Montague's.

Become Sister Rosaline and you never have to become a Montague.
