This Is Us: Who's Getting Series Regular Status?

There is always room for more family at the table.
While we already knew Jon Huertas was going to stick around as Miguel since he's married to Rebecca in the present, the This Is Us Season 1 finale gave us pause about Sophie.
Good news! It looks like Kevin's decision to skedaddle to the West Coast for a chat with Ron Howard won't be the straw that broke the camel's back in their fledgling attempt to reunite for good.
We know Miguel has children of his own because he and his first wife were the frequent topic of conversation when between Jack and Rebecca.
When Rebecca flippantly tossed around the phrase, "Remind me never to have kids," she was saying it in direct response to Miguel's family.
That means his children are likely as present in Rebecca's life as her own.
What it doesn't make clear is whether or not Randall, Kevin, and Kate ever got to know them well.
After all, the amount of information they don't know about Miguel is shocking.
How could Kevin have never known he reminded Miguel so much of his father or that Jack was Miguel's person?
Considering how close the two men were, even in light of their mother's remarriage to the man, you'd think they would have wanted to know anything and everything he could deliver about their father.
It will be very interesting finding out not only what his kids are like, but how much they know about the kids we already understand.
When did Miguel and Rebecca get married?
Was it relatively close to the time of Jack's death or was it later in life after they'd had time to grow even closer?
If it was close to the time of Jack's death, could they have had a child together?
We haven't heard mention of one to this point, but that's the kind of stunner This Is Us would toss at us when least expected.
Sophie, on the other hand, has been a part of the family her entire life.
She was close to Kate even before she got close to Kevin, but in short succession, she was an unofficial daughter to the Pearson family.
I can't imagine finding the person you're going to marry at such a young age, but that's exactly what happened to Kevin and Sophie.
We only saw Kevin leaving with Jack speaking of bad decisions running on top of that act to influence how we felt about it on The Is Us Season 1 Episode 18, but this casting note appears to mean the couple isn't giving up that easily.
I'm so glad because I was one of the people who thought Kevin made progress as a man throughout Season 1, and throwing it all away, even for the role of a lifetime, wasn't something the Kevin I was betting on would do at that point.
