The Night Shift Season 4 Episode 9 Review: Land of the Free

at .

Well Amira is back and let's just say there's a whole lot more to her return than just the possibility of a love triangle.

The Night Shift Season 4 Episode 9 revealed that she's actually a member of the CIA, and even TC is shocked by that news.

The question is, are we?

Unexpected Results - The Night Shift

Look, I'm not going to try to pretend I saw that coming. No one would have, but that doesn't exactly make the news shocking.

It's always been clear she was hiding something big. Now we know.

We knew as soon as Jordan mentioned this whole combat training idea that it was going to mean TC would be put in between these two very important women in his life.

What we didn't know is that Amira would be showing up in San Antonio to help facilitate this new project.

Scott: Hey listen, i know this isn't the best time, but I wanted to give you a heads up. I just talked to Syd and she's pulling out of running the combat center. Her husband threatened to sue her for full custody of the kid, saying her predilection for danger made her an unfit parent.
TC: What a bastard.
Scott: Yeah, you said it.

Personally, I would have loved to see Syd back in the fold, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. Instead, Amira is going to help them get these military medics combat ready in a matter of DAYS.

That's a pretty tall order.

If anyone can do it, well, I think we'd all put our faith in these particular doctors, right?

It's not nearly as much time as they were expecting, but they're clearly up for the challenge.

We only have one episode left for the season, but we're all expecting some sort of conflict between Jordan and Amira, right?

We already know how Amira feels, but Jordan is the tricky one.

TC: Ah! Could you not have grabbed the Lidocaine?
Jordan: Idiots who chase after dangerous criminals? They don't get Lidocane.
TC: Yeah, well I had to.
Jordan: I know. It's what makes me love you and hate you.

Seriously, what does she mean by this? Love and hate are separated by the thinnest of lines, and with Cain gone, the only obstacle in her way is Amira. Will she tell TC how she really feels? Does she even know how she actually feels?

Speaking of Cain...what the heck is going on with him?

He all of a sudden quits and we see him grabbing a hand full of passports. That's not shady at all...

He's obviously hiding something major. If the passports weren't evidence enough, ,there was the random guy calling the hospital looking for him. What has he gotten himself involved in?

Is he really going back to Mexico, or is he off to some other part of the world with one of those fake passports?

The theme of the week was immigration, so it would make sense if his disappearing act and quitting his job out of nowhere had something to do with his citizenship status.

We have to talk about that adorable kid though.

Angel is going to make one heck of a doctor some day. He's already on the right track as long as he stops trying to self medicate...or self harm, however you want to take it.

It's hard to blame the kid for doing whatever it takes to stay with his mom, and it's hard not to love Scott and Shannon for standing up for these immigrants. TC, you're not the only one who cares, bro.

Scott: Hey, I know what measles looks like, and none of these people have measles.
TC: Hey, Scott, look, I need you to look at all these people. Okay, the woman I just brought in with her son is suffering from septic shock. They've been in that place for God knows how long catching God knows what, and they're all scheduled to be deported tonight. Who knows which of them is going to survive. We can't just let these people suffer.
Scott: You're right.
TC: Really? Cause I thought you were going to fight me on this.
Scott: You don't own the moral compass for the world, TC. The least we can do is give them some basic care before they get shipped off. I just could have used a heads up.

Still, TC is the one who went after the crazy guy in the air vent and got the crap kicked out of him, so I guess he still gets some credit.

What do you guys think of Kenny proposing to Paul's sister?

That came out of nowhere!

Like, okay, good for him for asking Paul's blessing, but really, you're supposed to do that BEFORE asking the girl to marry you. That's just protocol, especially if you are trying to save a valued friendship.

Paul gave his blessing, but it was clear he didn't actually expect her to say yes, and he DEFINITELY did not expect to hear that Kenny already asked her and she already said yes.

The look on his face was pure shock.

Will this relationship really last? It has moved incredibly fast. Does Julian even know they're dating? It's been what, a month?

What's the hurry? Is she pregnant?

I hate that I'm bringing up that stereotype, but it's a television drama, and they're already engaged, so it's hard not to at least consider that possibility.

Hopefully that's not the case, but will they really last?

Are the writers expecting us to care? It's not like they've really given us a chance to get invested in them as a couple. If anything, we only really care how this will affect Kenny and Paul's friendship.

Again, we only have one episode left, and they see to have quite a bit to cover. It might be time to start preparing ourselves for the possibility of a cliffhanger without a guarantee of renewal.

Are you guys ready for the Night Shift to come to a close for the summer? Will they be able to pull off the combat training in such a short amount of time? Will Kenny really marry Bella? Will feelings for Jordan and Amira cloud TC's judgment?

So many questions and so little time to answer them all! Be sure to hit the comments with your thoughts and don't forget to watch The Night Shift online

Hey, slow it down short stack. You think I don't know that? I'm telling you that you're healthy so you don't freak. I'm telling them that you're deathly ill, highly contagious and can't leave this hospital under any circumstances. So, be sure to look real pitiful if anyone pokes their head in, okay?
