Nathan Fillion Returning to ABC For New Drama!!!

It seems there is no bad blood between Nathan Fillion and ABC.

According to Deadline, the former Castle star has signed on to appear as the lead on The Rookie which has snagged a straight-to-series order by the network.

It follows the character of John Nolan, who is the oldest rookie in the LAPD. The reason for the late entry into the force is that John was getting by in a small town and grew a little too comfortable.

Who says you can't chase your dreams later in life? That appears to be John's line of thinking on this new series as he finds himself in some crazy situations.

With rookies 20 years younger than him, the pressure will be on for John to emerge from the pack and prove that he is someone worth taking a bet on.

Former Castle showrunner/Executive Producer Alexi Hawley will serve as the showrunner on this brand new series.

Fillion previously starred on Castle from 2009-2016, but the show went out on a controversial note.

Despite Fillion being signed for a potential ninth season of the procedural drama series, it was announced that his co-star, Stana Katic was being let go after Castle Season 8.

This news was met with outrage from fans who watched Castle grow closer to Beckett throughout the show's run. At its heart, the show was a love story about the two characters working together and falling for one another.

After the outrage, ABC decided to cancel the show as opposed to bringing it back with some new characters. That did not result in fans being happy, however.

The series finale was one of the most polarizing in recent memory because it left several questions unanswered.

Since Castle was given the ax, Fillion has appeared in the likes of Modern Family, Santa Clarita Diet, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
