Netflix has found its Sabrina.

The streaming giant has confirmed that Feud alum, Kiernan Shipka has been cast as Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina!

The new iteration of the comic book is described as “an empowered young woman, half-human, half-witch, [who] is just beginning her dark education as a sorceress, even as she tries to maintain a normal life as a sophomore at Baxter High."

"Intelligent, compassionate and brave to the point of recklessness, Sabrina is all that stands between us and the forces of darkness that threaten our world.”

Despite the original Sabrina the Teenage Witch series being a comedy that was light and campy, the new iteration is said to be a darker approach to the comic book series.

The darker tone worked well for Riverdale, so it seems like the best course of action to keep things dark.

Kiernan Shipka Attends Emmys

Executive Producer, Roberto Aguirre-Sacassa said the following about the casting of Shipka in the iconic role:

“We’re all such huge fans of Kiernan’s work that when we started talking about who this new incarnation of Sabrina could be, her name was on everyone’s wish list."

"This is a darker, more macabre version of Sabrina, and we’re incredibly excited for people to see Kiernan make this iconic character her own.”

Executive producer and Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater added: “I am thrilled that Kiernan is playing Sabrina and have no doubt that she will embody the strength, courage, and boldness that has made the character a fan favorite.”

At just 18-years-old, Shipka has a TV resumé that boasts shows such as Mad Men, Heroes, Monk and, of course, the aforementioned Feud.

The spin-off of Riverdale was confirmed a few months back, and it was reportedly in the works at The CW. However, things changed, and Netflix stepped in with a lucrative straight-to-series order that included 20 episodes to air over two seasons.

It was a groundbreaking deal and one that allowed Warner Bros. TV Group to take full ownership of the series.

Riverdale Quotes

Alice: These diaries are your past, and your past is crushing you. Edgar says that...
Betty: What, Mom? What does some guru who’s running a heaven’s gate commune for pregnant runaways and wives of serial killers have to say about my diaries?
Alice: We know that you look down on the Farm, Betty. But, Edgar has done nothing but help me. He’s encouraged me to embrace everything that I was ashamed of and become the best version of myself.

Veronica: What's happening out there? Do we know? Is it about me?
Jughead: I have a strong inkling, and no. Also, I'd let it go.
Veronica: Yes, but you're you and I'm me. You do you, girl. I'll be back.
[She leaves]
Kevin: What was it like before she got here? I honestly cannot remember.
