9-1-1 Season 1 Episode 10 Review: A Whole New You

at .  Updated at .

Change is in the air on 9-1-1 Season 1 Episode 10 as our characters try to find the best versions of themselves.

Were they successful?

We may have to wait awhile to find out, but at least fans can rest easy knowing that the series was renewed.

Unusual Calls - 9-1-1

Of course, that doesn't necessarily guarantee that all of the characters will be returning.

After losing her mother, Abby found herself at a crossroads. Her mom died having never done some of the things she talked about doing, and that inspired Abby to take a trip to Ireland.

We're not talking a week or two, but months, and potentially for good.

Abby: I must be crazy to be leaving you behind.
Buck: You're not leaving anything behind. You're moving toward something. And I'm going to be right here when you come back, okay?

Abby spent so much time caring for her mother that she forgot to take care of herself. She needs to get away to find herself, and despite Buck promising to be there when she gets back, a few months could be detrimental to their new relationship.

They almost met their downfall over an identity-stealing catfisher, so what's going to happen with an ocean's worth of distance between them, and Buck still new to the whole commitment thing?

I'm not saying he's going to cheat, but it's probably only a matter of time before the distance becomes too much, and they decide to see other people.

It'll probably come down to whether or not Connie Britton decides to return.

In case you're unaware, she only signed on for one season, so this may very well be the last we see of Abby Clark. Ryan Murphy remains hopeful she'll return, but if she doesn't, would that be a deal breaker for anyone?

The good news is, this is the type of show that should be able to sustain cast shake-ups pretty easily. Still, it's safe to say she would be missed.

New Life - 9-1-1 Season 1 Episode 10

For a while now there has been speculation that perhaps there was a spark between Abby and Bobby. I don't think anyone saw Bobby and Athena coming. What should we make of that possible relationship?

Honestly, it feels like poor timing.

Bobby is finally making strides in his recovery, not just from addiction, but from his guilt. Throwing that book away was no easy task; he's been holding onto it and what it symbolizes for a long time.

For him to be ready to dip back into the dating pool is a huge step, and it's one I'm not sure Athena is prepared to take.

Her marriage just ended, and we just saw her tell a sexy young man that she wasn't ready to dive back into a relationship right now. She and Bobby are not in the same place in their lives, so their date is a little concerning. No one wants to see Bobby wind up hurt because Athena's not exactly sure what she wants at the moment.

Bobby: I'm sorry, that was unprofessional.
Athena: No one bats a thousand. Not with the things we got to see every day.

But, who knows, maybe they'll end up being right for each other, and it'll work. Or perhaps they'll decide just to be friends, which is entirely okay, too. We don't need everyone to be paired up.

Seriously, it's okay just to let Athena be single for awhile.

Hen has her work cut out for her, but it looks like her apology and declaration of love has gotten through to Karen. They still have issues to work out and will need to rebuild their trust, but Karen returning home is a good start.

It'll certainly help their case in the custody hearing if a judge sees them together again. They need to show that they provide a stable, loving household for their son.

It shouldn't take much more than that to prove they're a better fit than Eva, who's obviously a mess. But, she is the birth mother, and that can complicate the situation.

Chimney Responds - 9-1-1 Season 1 Episode 10

Even Chimney may have found love, or perhaps the potential for it, in one of the girls who was spurned by the Buck impersonator. At least that whole situation worked out for someone.

It certainly didn't work out for the guy behind the whole mess.

Buck: Well, it's tragic.
Chimney: Let's not forget this was an online predator.
Buck: Was he though? It's not like he was tricking women into hooking up. He never went out.
Chimney: If he could even get out. Why are you defending him?

Buck should not be allowed near dead bodies anymore. That was just disgusting. I think we could have done without watching him poke a hole in a dead body and see lots of nasty fluid drain from it. Ick.

It's a little crazy that the guy with the sleep disorder has woken up in a morgue three times, and is still willing to continue taking that risk instead of wearing a bracelet to identify his disorder. Maybe now that his condition startled someone so much that it put his life in danger, he'll reconsider.

So how do you guys feel about how 9-1-1 Season 1 ended? Will you be disappointed if not everyone returns? Are you on board with the potential Bobby/Athena pairing? Let us know in the comments and be sure to watch 9-1-1 online if you need to catch up!
