Mayans MC: Which Sons of Anarchy Characters Could Appear?

Mayans MC is coming to FX this fall, and the Sons of Anarchy offshoot could be bringing over some characters from the parent series.

Those characters are none other than Jax's (Charlie Hunnam) children, Abel and Thomas.

“I do think it would be interesting to see Jax’s sons faced with the reality of who their father was,” Kurt Sutter, EP of both Sons and Mayans, told reporters Friday at the Television Critics Assoc. summer press tour.

“Jax basically said [to ex-wife] Wendy, ‘Do not paint my existence and my life in any glamorous way. Tell my sons that I’m a scum, and I’m a murderer, and they should have nothing to do with me.’ Because he didn’t want them to face the same obstacles, the same draw to lineage that he had."

"To me, there’s potentially something interesting to see how that may manifest. But that would be down the line.”

The 10-episodes first season is scheduled to premiere September 4th and will be “set in a post-Jax Teller world, where EZ Reyes, fresh out of prison, is a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the Cali/Mexi border.

It picks up four years after the events of Sons of Anarchy, but it remains to be seen whether the kids will show up early into the show's run or much further down the line.

Mayans MC stars J. D. Pardo Sarah Bolger, Clayton Cardenas, Richard Cabral, Michael Irby, Raoul Trujillo, Antonio Jaramillo and Carla Baratta.

It has had a long and winding road to the TV screen. FX was allegedly unimpressed with the original pilot, and it meant that there were multiple roles recast, and a new pilot produced.

Sutter, who served as a director on the pilot, passed over those duties to Norberto Barba.

Sons of Anarchy was a huge hit for FX from 2008-14 and emerged as one of the most popular dramas on cable. It makes sense then that FX would want to extend the brand.
