Veronica Mars Revival: Enrico Colantoni to Return as Keith Mars

The cast of the Veronica Mars revival is starting to take shape.
Enrico Colantoni is cast member confirmed to be part of the eight-episode limited series which is slated to debut next year.
Colantoni was a series regular on the original series as the titular heroine's father, Keith Mars. He also appeared in the fan-funded movie in 2014.
Hulu confirmed last month that the drama would be back to solve another case in 2019, and some details about the plot have been revealed.
"Spring breakers are getting murdered in Neptune, thereby decimating the seaside town’s lifeblood tourist industry," reads the logline.

"After Mars Investigations is hired by the parents of one of the victims to find their son’s killer, Veronica is drawn into an epic eight-episode mystery that pits the enclave’s wealthy elites, who would rather put an end to the month-long bacchanalia, against a working class that relies on the cash influx that comes with being the West Coast’s answer to Daytona Beach."
What's more, the premiere will be penned by series creator, Rob Thomas, so we know this one's in good hands. Far too often when a series is revived, there are changes at the wheel.
Veronica Mars aired on UPN for two seasons between 2004-2006, but it moved to The CW for its final season.
The young-skewing network wanted the show to take on a different approach, and it resulted in the season-long arcs being abandoned in favor of shorter arcs.
It didn't help matters that the show was put on hiatus midseason for several months before the network brought it back and canceled it.
The fact that fans parted with $3.5 million to make the movie possible means that there is an audience for the series, but the move to streaming for this new adventure is the best foot forward.
While it's supposed to be a limited series, there's no telling whether Hulu will commision more down the line because if the episode orders are shorter, it will allow the cast to come back every so often to make a new chapter.

Jason Dohring (Logan), Percy Daggs III (Wallace Fennel), Francis Capra (Weevil) and David Starzyk (Richard Casablancas) are all on board alongside Bell and Colantoni for the new season.
