There will be changes afoot in Neptune when Veronica Mars returns to the air.
TV Line has confirmed that Dawnn Lewis has landed the recurring role of Marcia Langdon aka the new chief of police in Neptune.
Lewis previously appeared on fellow Rob Thomas drama, iZombie in a recurring role, so this marks a reunion of sorts with the show's creator.
However, Lewis is best known for her role on A Different World, in which she played Jaleesa Vinson-Taylor.
Langdon first popped up in Mr. Kiss and Tell, one of the Veronica Mars novels that took place in the Veronica Mars universe following the movie.
Alongside Kristen Bell and Lewis, Enrico Colantoni (Keith) Jason Dohring (Logan), Percy Daggs III (Wallace Fennel), Francis Capra (Weevil), Ryan Hansen (Dick Casablancas) and David Starzyk (Richard Casablancas) are all slated to return.
There's no word yet on whether Tina Majorino is staging a comeback, but given that production is already underway on the eight-episode limited series, it's likely the actress is not returning.
Hulu placed a series order for the revival back in September.
"Spring breakers are getting murdered in Neptune, thereby decimating the seaside town’s lifeblood tourist industry," reads the official logline.
"After Mars Investigations is hired by the parents of one of the victims to find their son’s killer, Veronica is drawn into an epic eight-episode mystery that pits the enclave’s wealthy elites, who would rather put an end to the month-long bacchanalia, against a working class that relies on the cash influx that comes with being the West Coast’s answer to Daytona Beach."
Veronica Mars aired on TV from 2004-07 but was canceled after three seasons following a dip in the ratings, but fans campaigned to revive it.
A fan-funded movie sequel was released in 2014, and there were rumors since that the next project would be a limited series.
