CBS is showing faith in freshman drama, God Friended Me.

The network placed an order for a second season of the dramedy for the 2019-2020 TV season.

"We're thrilled with how GOD FRIENDED ME has performed on Sundays. It's one of the top three new series on television, has improved its time period significantly, and continues a long tradition of prestige dramas for CBS on the night," said Kelly Kahl, President, CBS Entertainment.

Added Thom Sherman, Senior Executive Vice President of Programming, "Our amazing cast and producers have done a wonderful job of bringing this series to life each week with humorous and inspirational storylines. Viewers have clearly embraced our characters and the positive message the show delivers."

The family drama stars Brandon Micheal Hall, Violett Beane, Suraj Sharma, Javicia Leslie, and Joe Morton.

Greg Berlanti, Steven Lilien, Bryan Wynbrandt, Sarah Schechter and Marcos Siega are the executive producers for Warner Bros. Television.

God Friended Me launched to decent reviews and solid ratings in the fall and has emerged as the most-watched scripted series on Sundays this season with an average of 10 million viewers a week.

The renewal is a no-brainer for CBS, especially when you consider the respectable ratings it is pulling in every week.

God Friended Me is the fourth rookie series to garner a sophomore run at CBS, following the pickups of Magnum PI, The Neighborhood and FBI.

God Friended Me still has nine episodes left to air for the season. It is currently on a Super Bowl and Grammys fueled hiatus and will return to the air on February 17.

"Miles reconnects with his high school baseball teammate, Cal (Charles Brice), when he gets a friend suggestion for a promising young baseball player who Cal is coaching," reads the official logline for God Friended Me Season 1 Episode 14.
