“As a fan of our show, I’m thrilled to be doing a guest arc with such a talented, kind and hard-working cast,” Kim said in a statement.

“[Executive producer] David [Shore] and I have been looking for the right opportunity, and we’ve found a character that’s both dynamic and surprising."

"It’s an added bonus for my character to be directed by our own Freddie Highmore, who’s proving to be as talented behind the camera as in front of it. It’s been a lot of fun already, and I’m excited for the episodes to air.”

Currently slated to appear on the last four episodes of the show's sophomore run, it's unclear whether this could become a more regular gig on-screen.

What we do know is that Dr. Jackson will be playing the new Chief of Surgery at St. Bonaventure, and it could result in Dr. Shaun Murphy's career being put on the line.

The actor shared the following on Instagram shortly after his casting was announced.

"Kicking off the new year with good people, good actors, good writing and @thegooddoctorabc! Friends and fans, please welcome -for a limited time only- Dr. Jackson Han," he captioned the post.

The Good Doctor marks Dae Kim's first TV role since his high-profile exit from CBS drama Hawaii Five-0 after he did not receive pay parity with co-stars Scott Caan and Alex O'Loughlin.

There was some back and forth between Kim and CBS, but the actor opted to move on from the series and became an EP on The Good Doctor shortly after.

Shaun: She won't be able to have a baby if she's dead.

Olivia: I never wanted to be a doctor. But every time I tried to say so my parents and professors and you pushed me and encouraged me til I backed down. So I knew if I got fired, there was no way you could pep-talk me back into a career I don't want.
Andrews: Livvie...
Olivia: I don't want to be important or successful. I just want to be myself. But I don't even know who that is. So the only way I can find out is if I burn my bridges behind me.
