Jane The Virgin: Answers We Need Before The Series Ends

at .  Updated at .

Jane the Virgin is coming to an end and though we're still heartbroken about it, we have some burning questions.

Fans have been dedicated to the series, the Villanueva women, and the show's ships for five years, so it's pertinent that the series finale is satisfying and offers closure.

The series finale episode coincides with the show's 100th episode meaning there's plenty of time to address everything and even give the character's the proper send-off.

Some of our questions have been lingering since the very first episode while others are a direct result of the major cliffhanger on Jane the Virgin Season 4 Episode 17

Check them out below and while you prepare to watch Jane the Virgin online, let us know what your perfect series finale looks like.

Jane the Virgin's finale season premieres March 27th on The CW.

1. Is Michael Really Back?

The cliffhanger for Jane the Virgin Season 4 revealed that Michael was still alive. Or it was someone that looked like Michael as there have been plenty of theories about his resurrection. Personally, I'm leaning towards Michael having amnesia only because there was a scene where Rogelio and River fought about amnesia being a huge part of their script.

Jane the Virgin writers love to leave little Easter eggs so I believe it was foreshadowing Michael's return with amnesia. As Rogelio said, it's a classic telenovela twist. Michael's or doppelganger Michael's appearance will most likely be addressed in the season premiere.

2. How Did Rose Know About Michael?

Rose told Raf she had news that was going to change his life forever. But how would she know about Michael unless she's the one that kidnapped him? She's done it before to Mateo. Rose has also proven to be a master of disguises, so it's entirely possible that one of her minions is wearing a mask to portray Michael. She would do just about anything to get her claws on Luisa again.

3. What Happens to Luisa?

Raf was trying to protect Luisa from her psychotic ex-girlfriend Rose aka Sin Rostro but if she handed over the information about Michael, it's safe to assume that he handed over Luisa's hideout location. I'm not really sure what Luisa's destiny is but for her sake, I hope she finds peace somewhere where she can zen out without manipulative and psychotic people around. I'm looking at you, Rose.

4. Who Are Raf's Parents?

Raf was initially in contact with Rose to find out more about his birth parents. Finding his parents has been a long and winding journey for Rafael so for this storyline to make any sense, we need to find out who they are. If the writers are going to take away Raf's happy ending with Jane, let's hope they at least give him a good set of parents! He doesn't need any more drama.

5. Who is Jane's Endgame?

I imagine Jane running to Rafael and pulling the classic CW line, "It's always been you." Jane is in an unthinkable situation if Michael really is alive. Who does she pick, Michael or Rafael? She loved Michael; he's her husband. But she also grieved him and moved on with Rafael, the man she loves right now. In fact, she loves Rafael so much she was ready to say 'yes' to his marriage proposal, move in with him and start their whole family just mere hours before Michael's resurrection. Personally, I'm Team Rafael on this one. He waited long enough to get the girl! Don't come at me Team Michael fans.

6. JR Shot Who?

"It's you." Petra clearly recognized the mystery assailant and blackmailer just before JR ran in and shot them. But who was it? Petra's accumulated her fair share of enemies but going down the list of possibilities it could be Milos, Magda, or Chuck. Heck, it could even be Anezka or Scott. Yes, they're supposed to be dead but so was Michael and well, you know the rest.

7. Will Xo Beat Cancer?

Fans were hoping that Xo would score a W over cancer by the end of the season but unfortunately, cancer prevailed. Xo is the strongest character on the show and such a fighter so we're hoping she gets some good news regarding her health. Jane is going to need her mother now more than ever!

8. Will Ro Ever Realize his American Telenovela Dream?

River and Rogelio had some bad times (look up: he burned off her eyebrows), but they are finally getting along, well, as far as getting along goes for these two. Is that enough to get the Passions of Steve to primetime? Will Rogelio's dream of making his American debut come true? Will he become the huge celebrity he's always imagined himself to be?

9. Will Alba and Jorge's Marriage Thrive?

Alba proposed to Jorge and married him at her citizenship ceremony so that he could go back to Mexico to visit his dying mother. While Alba did this out of the kindness of her heart, part of me believes that we shouldn't trust Jorge completely. On the other hand, the romantic in me wants to believe that despite two turned down engagements and a rejection, Alba and Jorge could finally find their happily ever after with each other. Love favors the bold!

10. Who Is the Narrator?

No, I'm not referring to the actual narrator, Anthony Mendez, who does a phenomenal job as the omniscient and animated narrator we've all come to love. I'm talking about the narrator as a character in his own right and how he relates to the show. If you've been paying attention, you may have picked up a few hints about his identity.

There was that one time during Xo and Ro's wedding where he said she looked perfect, at least to the people who loved her most adding "which includes me." The narrator could be a grown Mateo or some believe it could be Jane's grandfather and Xo's father Mateo. He could be watching the story play out as a reminder that our loved ones are always with us. It would most definitely explain his accent. Whoever it is, I just hope they reveal him in a satisfactory and meaningful way.

11. Does Jane Have Any More Children?

Jane's dream was always to get married and start a family. Life didn't go according to plan, but she does have Mateo and was almost going to marry Rafael until he surprised her with what we assume is Michael's return. Regardless of whom she chooses to be with, will Jane have any more children? I've always imagined her as part of a big family and think it would be really sweet if Raf and Jane had another child together ... this time willingly.

12. Does Rafael Get His Work Groove Back?

Rafael lost himself for a little bit during Jane the Virgin Season 4 when he no longer had a place at the Marbella. He dabbled in real-estate briefly, but he wasn't necessarily back to his rich glory days. Does Raf get his groove back? Does he find a new passion? Is he going to be the business mogul he once was?

13. Whose Footsteps?

This was a minor moment in the series, but the cynic in me keeps replaying that final moment on Jane the Virgin Season 4 Episode 14. The Villanueva women used Vivaporu to solve their problems, but the narrator ominously warned us that Vivaporu couldn't "stop the evil from coming."

The narrator did say that he'd save this mystery for last, but there has been so much evil since then already. Looking at the type of footwear in the mysterious shot, I think they may have belonged to Jorge. They could also be a reference to Michael though I don't think he wears pants like that, or a reference to Rafael's real father, or even to Petra's mysterious assailant.

14. Will Petra Finally Be Happy?

At one point during Jane the Virgin Season 4, Petra gushed about JR to Rafael and he told she deserved to be genuinely happy. And after everything she's been through, we couldn't agree more. The question remains, will it be with JR? The two got into a fight when JR found out Petra lied about killing Anezka, but JR also ran back to save Petra's life from the mystery assailant. Does that mean she'll give her another chance?

15. Does Jane's Novel Get Published?

Jane finally got her writing groove back when she began putting together a story about her mother. It's a beautiful tribute to the only constant positive relationship in Jane's life. The last time Jane wrote about something deeply personal, it turned out to be her first published book. Will she have the same luck with this second novel? Will she eventually become a famous novelist that falls into the same category of writers she's always admired?

16. Who is Sophia Bush Playing?

I've included this because I'm genuinely curious. Adding characters into the final season of a show is risky, and Justin Baldoni's Instagram post introducing Sophia Bush to fans of the show wasn't exactly comforting as he wrote that while he can’t say who she is playing, "some of you may not be happy about it." Um ... is she Rafael's new girlfriend? It almost sounds like that would be the case which means Jane went back to Michael! Or is it his sister? Or is it Michael's new girlfriend? This is too much.

17. Seriously, Is That Michael?

If it walks like Michael, and it talks like Michael, is Michael really Michael? This has been bothering me for almost a year now. I'm really going strong with my amnesia theory especially because showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman ruled out that it wasn't another twin. She also added that it "certainly looks like Michael" which may allude to plastic surgery or as I said, amnesia.

What are your 'is Michael alive' theories? Send them my way until Jane the Virgin Season 5 returns on March 27th because I'll be thinking about this at every waking moment.

Jane the Virgin Quotes

You can't protect her from everything Xiomara. You've done a fantastic job raising a daughter with extraordinary DNA.

Rogelio

Jane: I could see the finish line, first with Michael, and then Rafael, and now it's just not even in sight, and I'm a mom. When I was ten years old making that promise, I didn't see this coming.
Xo: Yeah, makes sense. So, maybe it's time to reevaluate?
Jane: Yeah, maybe.
