Outlander Season 5: DELAYED!

If you were holding out hope for Outlander to return to the air in 2019, then we have some bad news:

Outlander Season 5 has been delayed.

The popular drama won’t return until early 2020, Starz Chief Operating Officer Jeffrey Hirsch told reporters at the Television Critics Association summer press tour Friday.

Given that production only got underway on the fifth season in May, it seemed possible that the show would be looking at a much later launch than usual.

However, Hirsch has revealed that the 2020 launch is due to scheduling at the premium cabler.

“The decision behind everything that we do in terms of our programming schedule, obviously, is based on delivery schedules,” he told reporters.

“We try to have something on the air to serve that premium female audience. So we have some shows coming before that serve the Power audience.”

The cabler typically airs its high profile shows on Sundays, but with increased content output, it's becoming more difficult to schedule everything.

Also not helping matters is that Power Season 6 -- the final season -- is being split into two parts, with the first slated to premiere in August and the second in January.

While Power is coming to an end, it was revealed during TCA that Mary J. Blige would lead the cast of one of the show's spinoffs.

Titled Power Book II: Ghost, the series is "the first of a collection of series to expand the world of Power” and “will continue the journey of some of Power‘s most controversial characters,” the network revealed.

Blige then showed up to air her thoughts on the casting decision.

“I’ve been a fan of Power since the very beginning… It’s so relative to how I grew up," she said.

"I knew so many Tashas and so many Ghosts… I still have friends that are Tashas. I’m so grateful to be a part of this.”

Outlander Quotes

Sex was our bridge back to one another. The one place where we always met. Whatever obstacles presented themselves during the day or night, we could seek out and find each other again in bed. As long as we had that, I had faith that everything would work out.

The war had taught me to cherish the present because tomorrow might not ever come to pass. What I didn’t know at the time was that tomorrow would prove less important than yesterday.
