The Unicorn Season 1 Episode 2 Review: Breaking Up is Hard To Do

at .

Getting back into the dating game after 20 years is hard.

On The Unicorn Season 1 Episode 2, Wade has no idea what he's getting into when he dates another woman.

He doesn't want to be mean. He's too nice of a guy. And he wants to feel normal.

Getting back to normal isn't an easy thing to do either because where do you begin?

All of them want to get back to normal, but it's not an easy thing to do after your life is turned upside down.

What I like most about Wade's world is how supportive his friends are -- with everything.

They've got his back. And they didn't abandon him after his wife died.

Sometimes that's not how it works. When my husband died, our couples friends faded away.

Lives change and that's how it is. It happened to others in the same boat.

But that's not the case in Wade's world.

When he goes on his date with Lizzie, the connection isn't there. He doesn't want it to continue, but he doesn't know how to put an end to it.

The more he tried to be nice and think what he was doing was the right thing to do, the more involved he got.

It was almost ridiculous to the point where it almost became unbelievable.

But again, he's been out of the game for so long. He doesn't understand the new rules of dating.

Predator - The Unicorn Season 1 Episode 2

Liking someone's post on social media is not a good thing if you're trying to break up with a woman.

It's not something he understands, and he keeps making the same mistakes over and over.

Even after he went on the second date, he knew it wasn't the right fit. And, yet, he didn't know what to do and kept going and going like the Energizer bunny.

Dating is different now than it was 20 years ago. Heck, it's different now than it was 10 years ago.

Michelle bringing her sister, Meg, into the picture was a good move. She was able to help Wade with the new rules -- until she found out how deep Wade had gotten himself.

Meg was a hoot. She was almost like a predator with her vast knowledge of the game. And Michelle knew enough not to let her sister get too close to Wade.

It would not have been a good thing. She would swallow Wade whole.

It was cute and so like Wade to have to practice how to break up with someone via text (or was it social media?)

Not a fan of that way of doing things and am surprised Wade didn't want to do it in person.

That would have seemed more his style, but he did what he did.

And he learned that breaking up wasn't hard to do at all. Lizzie didn't jump off a building. She wasn't even being exclusive to him because they weren't in that kind of relationship anyway.

From now on it'll be simpler for Wade.

The person who didn't show up was Tracy. It was surprising because on The Unicorn Season 1 Episode 1, he was making it a point to go talk to her.

And then nothing. No follow up to that.

Maybe I'm wrong, but didn't it seems like he was going to talk to Tracy because he figured out she was interested in him?

So, why all of a sudden not follow that story to see what happened? It just struck me as odd.

Grace wanting to feel normal was a real thing. I remember how other kids used to tease him because he didn't have a father. One kid even told him, he was weird.

It was a big deal, so Grace doing what she was doing made complete sense.

It was also spot on when she said she wanted her dad to be happy. That's a huge thing, and the fact that he was honest with her was spot on.

Hanging Out with Sis - The Unicorn Season 1 Episode 2

Kids do want you to be happy, but they're also protective. And on the parent side, they want to protect their kids and not do anything to upset them.

Dating is a huge thing for everyone. And you have to be fair to everyone's feelings.

Wade is going to make it out alive even if he feels like he's walking around in the dark.

He's a good guy. Whoever is lucky enough to steal his heart, is going to be lucky indeed.

What did you think of this installment of The Unicorn?

Did Wade breaking up with Lizzie the way he did seem out of character?
