Third Walking Dead Series Gets Title

AMC's third series set in the world of The Walking Dead is a secret no more.

Scott M. Gimple took to social media Sunday to reveal more details about the series, including a title.

The new series will be called... The Walking Dead: World Beyond.

Fighting for Safety

For a show that's supposed to expand the mythology of the universe, that's not a bad title.

It's certainly better than Fear the Walking Dead.

“I’ve been working with a lot of talented people to bring you a brand new world of the Walking Dead,” Gimple shared on Instagram alongside a photo of the cover of the script for the series premiere.

That means The Walking Dead: World Beyond Season 1 Episode 1 is titled "Brave."

Hiding from the Forces of Evil

Given that the series is essentially a coming of age teen drama about the first wave of children growing up in the zombie apocalypse, the episode title makes sense.

The series will feature two young female protagonists and focuses on the first generation to come-of-age in the apocalypse as we know it.

Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. In the end, all of them will be changed forever. Grown-up and cemented in their identities, both good and bad.

The cast for the new series includes Annet Mahendru, Aliyah Royale, Alexa Mansour, Nicolas Cantu, Nico Tortorella, and Hal Cumpston.

"Showing audiences an unseen pocket of The Walking Dead universe steeped in a new mythology is a very cool way to celebrate a ‘Decade of the Dead’ on TV and over 15 years of Robert Kirkman’s brilliant comic,” said Gimple in a statement in April.

“Matt Negrete is one of the best writer-producers in TWD’s long history — I’m thrilled to be working beside him to tell stories unlike we’ve seen before, taking our first step into an even larger world.”

“We’re thrilled that the Dead will keep walking into a new corner of the post-apocalyptic world, a corner that will present stories and characters unlike any that The Walking Dead has dramatized thus far, and that is bound to excite one of the most passionate fanbases in television,” said David Madden, AMC’s head of programming at the time of the order.

AMC dropped a brand new teaser on Sunday, revealing a new and exciting group.
