Beloved TV star, Charlotte Rae has passed away at 92 years old, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Rae is probably most well-known for her roles on Diff'rent Strokes and The Facts of Life. She starred as Mrs. Garrett on both series.
Charlotte was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer even years ago and confirmed that she had bone cancer in early 2017.
“Last Monday, I found out I have bone cancer,” she said in a statement last to People Magazine last year.
“About seven years ago, I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer — which is a miracle that they found it because usually, it’s too late. My mother, sister, and my uncle died of pancreatic cancer."
"After six months of chemotherapy, I was cancer-free. I lost my hair, but I had beautiful wigs. Nobody ever knew. So now, at the age of 91, I have to make up my mind."
"I’m not in any pain right now. I’m feeling so terrific and so glad to be above ground. Now I have to figure out whether I want to go have treatment again or opt for life.”
“I love life. I’ve had a wonderful one already … I’ve had a great life, but I have so many wonderful things happening. I’d like to choose life. I’m grateful for the life I’ve already had.”
Rae originally acted in theater and on the radio, and her first TV role was on Car 54, Where Are You? She played Sylvia Schnauser on the series.
Rae's TV resume also includes the likes of Pretty Little Liars, ER, The King of Queens. She has also appeared in Don't Mess with the Zohan on the movie front.
It was revealed last week that a Facts of Life reboot was in the works with Sony Pictures Television spearheading the project.
We extend our thoughts and prayers to Charlotte's family and friends.
