Recap

Goames and Gus struggle in the woods until Henri skewers Gus with a stake. Mathilde tells Constable Bouchard that Francis's death was the result of a business dispute and had nothing to do with the girl and the priest. The Jesuits arrive and take away the priest before he can be questioned. Trepagny shows Sel where he wants to build his "sky table." He informs Sel that he has been granted a wife. Trepagny tells him not to mention it to Mari. Goames reports Gus's death to the constable, leaving out the identity of his savior. Bouchard warns him to hurry and complete his investigation. The Wendat chief expels Duquet from their village. The Filles du Roi prepare for their debut, cleaning up a barn. Trepagny prays for divine guidance in selecting his wife. He informs Mari that he's moving into the manor house. She knows something is up and spits on him. Duquet interrupts Cooke when he's visiting his wife's gravesite. Goames questions Cooke about Gus's activities. Cooke tells him the massacre at the creek was Cross's idea. Hamish admits that Cross is his brother-in-law. Cooke says that the French would consider the massacre an act of war. Mari pressures Sel about Trapagny's plans. Thom appears at Cooke's office. Cooke hides him but Duquet sees it. He blackmails Cooke into giving him a job. Melissande sets her sights on Trepagny. Mari visits the manor house. Henri leaves Gus's body hanging outside of Wobik. This ends the Filles du Roi get-together. Cooke wants Duquet to take Thom into the woods and kill him. Renardette returns to the inn. Mari buries items she took from the manor house in the woods. Duquet pulls a knife and follows Thom into the woods.
