Patterson explains their tattoo case -- a mysterious 20 year old box that's been called up for shipment. At the warehouse Jane and Kurt take down some bad guys, stop a fire, and find the box.
The contents of the box are decades-old unprocessed rape kits.
Patterson is given Stuart's phone that washed up on the banks of the Hudson, Reade is reluctant for her to investigate it.
Weller and Jane tag team their suspect in interrogation and learn more about the man behind the curtain.
The team discovers that one specific rape kit leads back to the King of Kazahrus. They are searching for the victims son because he is the rightful heir to the throne and they want to take him out.
Roman calls Jane and confirms the the story of her daughter, revealing that Shepherd took the baby away behind Jane's back. Patterson is unable to trace the call.
Patterson and Zapata bluff evidence from Stuart's phone to draw out the mole.
Matthew Weitz shows up to help with the case -- he is now a Congressman.
Hirst checks-in with Reade to make sure Zapata is trustworthy. She doesn't want Z digging her nose in where it doesn't belong.
The team track the missing woman and her son to a hotel. Jane and Kurt bring them to the hospital.
Patterson and Zapata discover that it was Reade's log-in that accessed the Stuart "evidence" and deleted it.
Reade apologizes to Zapata about his behavior.
The Kazahrusians infiltrate the hospital and Jane and Weller have to take the family on the run.
Patterson figures out that someone else used Reade's long-in to access the evidence. She tells Zapata that it's Hirst.
Weitz tells the team that the King of Kazahrus has been hanged and the young boy they've saved is now being called to lead the country. He agrees, wanting to make a difference.
Zapata and Patterson tell Reade that Hirst is trying to frame him. He doesn't want to hear any of it.
Jane tells Kurt that she's decided not to look for her daughter because she doesn't want to disrupt her life in any way or put her in danger.
We get a flashback to Berlin 6 months previous when Kurt was searching from Jane. He met Jane's daughter Avery there, as she was also looking for Jane. Kurt's been keeping this secret the whole time.
