Willow, Xander and Oz fill in for slaying duties while Buffy is missing. They fail killing a vampire.

Buffy dreams of being with Angel at the beach in the sun. In reality, she's hiding out in Los Angeles.

Buffy, pretending to be a waitress named "Anne," is working at a diner. She serves two people in love who show their tattoos as Lily and Ricky.

At the start of their Senior year, the library is busy with people getting books. Cordelia is worried Xander has moved on.

Oz signed up to be a student at Sunnydale High again after he didn't graduate the previous year.

The other students of Sunnydale High are excited for the start of the year. Cordelia and Xander have an awkward reunion in the lounge.

Giles gets a tip that he's found Buffy. However, the Scoobies think the odds are pretty slim.

Lily, the girl from the diner, recognizes Buffy. She was one of the vampire cult members from Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 2 Episode 7. She promises to keep Buffy's secret.

A man nearly gets run over on the street, but Buffy saves him in time. Buffy bumps into a support worker Ken on the street who warns her about not being on the street.

Joyce and Giles have gotten close in their search for Buffy. He gives her an update that his lead didn't turn up right.

Lily goes to Buffy for help; Ricky has gone missing. The pair go to the blood bank to see if Ricky visited to donate blood for money. Unfortunately, he wasn't there.

He finds the old man from earlier dead in an abandoned building; he has committed suicide. The man has the same tattoo as Ricky. The old man was Ricky.

Buffy tells Lily the news and she reacts terribly. Lily runs out crying and bumps into Ken.

Buffy visits the blood bank again to search over the files. Ricky's files were marked with a "candidate" note. The doctor reveals she gives the names of the healthy patients to Ken.

The Scoobies use Cordelia as bait to catch a vampire and stake him. Cordelia and Xander kiss.

Ken and the support workers are about to cleanse Lily when Buffy arrives to stop them. Lily is pulled into the pool of silver liquid and Ken pulls Buffy inside with him. The pair end up in a hell dimension; Ken, in reality, is a demon.

Ken plans to keep Buffy and Lily in the dimension to work as slaves for a hundred years. The guards force the prisoners to obey; they kill someone who mentions their name. Buffy beats a guard to free the prisoners.

Buffy fights the guards until Ken uses Lily as a hostage. He lets go of Lily to yell at Buffy, but Lily pushes Ken off a ledge.

Ken gets trapped under a gate and Buffy kills him. The prisoners escape the hell dimension.

Buffy gets Lily a job at the diner. Lily changes her name to "Anne."

Buffy returns home to Sunnydale. She and Joyce hug.
