Dylan talks with Melana, who wants an update on Stefan. Dylan blames himself for the shooting. He shouldn't have listened to her and released Stefan in the first place.

Archer demands regular drug tests of Hannah. She says Goodwin said only once a month. He says it's his ED.

Later, Will smiles when he sees Asher across the room.

Dylan sees Stefan but is cold to him. Maggie asks Vanessa to look at a dislocated shoulder and whispers that she wants to take her off Stefan's case. She has a bad feeling about the guy. Vanessa says she's got this. Before they can continue this conversation, another shooting victim, Hector, comes in. While Vanessa and Dylan are examining him, a guy with a hoodie stands in the doorway. Stefan is wheeled past and Hector nods at Hoodie Guy. Dylan tells Vanessa to finish up on her own and runs to tell Melana that the gang war has come to the hospital.

The woman heading the police investigation comes to see Goodwin and Dylan. She says she will put plainclothes officers on every exit and undercover in the hospital. If things go south it could get very bad. Sharon supposes she has no choice but to go along with this. The woman gives her some BS about them both being in healthcare that Sharon doesn't accept. Dylan says he can't move Stefan til he sees what's going on with him but he wants to keep him in the hospital. Sharon agrees to the undercover plan but if the cops interfere with her doctors doing their jobs, she will call in uniforms regardless of the consequences.

Meanwhile, Will approaches Asher. He's glad she's back. He hopes things won't be awkward because of their history. She says this isn't about him or them. It's about her getting her dream job. Will is smiling at her. The spell is broken when he's called to talk to a patient.

16-year-old Ivy has brain cancer and just had a seizure. She wants to go home and her parents agree. Charles overhears Will trying to talk them into letting him run tests. Will fills Charles in after the family leaves. Ivy collapses and Will gets the parents' permission to administer drugs and a CT scan after all.

Vanessa and Dylan look at the CT scan results. Stefan has blood in his lungs. Dylan says he's moving him to ICU and taking Vanessa off the case. Vanessa insists she can handle it and that he may need help with the patient. Dylan reluctantly agrees to let Vanessa assist.

A woman comes into the ED with severe bleeding. She apparently had a uterus transplant. Her original uterus was scarred. Now she has severe bleeding every month.

Maggie sees Vanessa collecting Stefan's clothes. She hasn't got a transfer request for him. Vanessa says she's got this and walks off.

Blake and Marcel are called in as well as Asher. After the woman is wheeled off, Asher wants to do a new transplant but Blake refuses. Archer feels a need to come along and gloat that he agrees with Blake.

Maggie goes to see Sharon. Sharon is in with the cops and someone at the door won't let Maggie in. The cops walk out and Sharon says it's okay. She calls Maggie in and says someone is trying to kill one of our patients. Maggie realizes it's Vanessa's patient.

Maggie returns to the ED and tells Marissa that she was gone taking care of a personnel matter.

Charles asks Will to go with him to talk to Ivy's parents about test results. Ivy's parents tell Charles that they have made their decision. Ivy has suffered enough and they want to do palliative care only. Ivy's mom goes to make her a special tea. Charles asks what the tea is. He and Will find out that it's a quack cure for cancer. Will thinks this is medical neglect. Charles wants to talk to the mom before they do anything.

At the tea station, Ivy's mom admits she knows the tea doesn't do anything but it's all Ivy will agree to so she has to go along with it.

In the OBGYN unit, Claire's bleeding is getting worse. The uterus will have to be removed. Claire insists on another transplant. Call another hospital, get another doctor who will do it. Asher tells the nurses to run more tests and let her know if hemoglobin goes below 7 (she doesn't say but that would indicate the need for a blood transfusion).

In a tense sequence, Dylan and Vanessa are moving Stefan to get an angiogram as he is still bleeding and in a lot of pain. The cops spot a gang member, Paco, following them. Dylan sees him too and quickly gets Stefan back into the elevator. Paco just misses catching it too. The cops promise they will get Paco out of there soon. Goodwin tells Dylan to take Stefan to the PICU for now.

Will is upset that there is nothing they can do for Ivy, as Charles says it is not medical neglect. Ivy's old records come in and Will discovers her tumor is shrinking. However, Ivy is puking profusely when they go to give her that news. She begins spitting up blood. Will asks for permission to perform an emergency cauterization. The parents agree.

Claire also begins bleeding worse and needs an emergency hysterectomy. Claire's sister privately tells Asher she doesn't want kids and will donate her uterus. Marcel tries to convince Blake. Blake says this is elective surgery and therefore unnecessary. Marcel says she knows the bond between a mother and daughter, can't she give Claire that?

Stefan is safe for now. Melana calls. These guys won't stop til they kill Stefan. Give her the word and she'll pull the plug. Dylan says not happening. However, Stefan's blood pressure begins dropping. Dylan orders another unit of blood.

Maggie asks Marissa if she's seen Vanessa. Marissa hasn't. Maggie says nothing's wrong. She's just trying to keep tabs on her doctors.

WIll gets test results back for Ivy. He says this is assault. He and Charles tell Ivy that someone has been slipping chemo drugs into her tea. Her mother says it isn't her. Charles looks at Ben's hands and realizes it's him. Ben says Ivy was dying, he couldn't lose her.

During Claire's surgery, she begins bleeding. Blake says angrily that this is why they shouldn't do transplants when it's elective. There are other ways to have a baby.

Stefan's condition becomes critical. Vanessa realizes the bullet fragment is in his heart causing the bleed. Dylan calls Goodwin. They have to go to the OR NOW. Hector's friend attempts to attack Stefan as they are moving but Dylan throws him to the ground as the cops show up.

Claire awakens. She's fine. She is upset to hear Beth gave her uterus. Beth says she never wanted to have kids. Them raising kids together was all Claire's dream, not hers.

Will updates Ivy's family. They had to report Ben to hospital administration. Ivy's parents aren't pressing charges but they also don't want to continue chemo.

Sharon takes over for Archer in patching Scott up. She reminds Scott that he's a doctor now, not a cop.

Archer tells Asher that the procedure was difficult but they got through it so that's a win.

Melana comes to Scott's place to apologize for putting him in the middle of this. They start kissing.
