Ruzek is getting fed up with the constant hatred and things he's dealing with regarding Richard Beck. He can't get Beck to share directly what he's planning.

The case is getting to him, especially being around all that hatred all the time, and they're running out of time.

He meets up with Sam who is on her way to leave because she told him her father moved up his plans until that day. They get into it and he eventually breaks cover and hauls her in.

He tries to get her to talk but she's too afraid. They arrange a deal with Chapman's help so that she gets full immunity for everything on Beck's operation, and Ruzek still has to convbice her to take it becuae she's afraid her father will kill her and take Callum.
She gives them the full rundown on all of their locations and illegal activites.

They go multiple squad members deep into varous locations in search for Beck.

They don't find him.

Ruzek is still playing under cover as he's trying to help Callum and Samantha. Ruzek promises to protect Callum no matter what.

They investigate the various locations. Atwater finds that Beck had a plan to blow up elementary schools in Black neighborhoods. They have to get ouot before the place explodes and it does.

While trying to pack Callum and Samantha up to take them to a safe house, Ruzek hears Callum on the phone with his grandfather. He hangs up and pulls a gun out on Ruzek.

Ruzek tries to talk him down and reason with him, but Callum is convinced that he is a bad man trying to stop his grandfather from their mission. He shoots Ruzek in the chest.

Samantha hears the shot, sees what happens, grabs Adam's gun and phone and takes off with Callum. Ruzek crawls to where they dropped his phone down some stairs and manages to call Kim. Voight shows up to rush Ruzek to the hospital. Ruzek heads into surgery but makes Kim promise to protect Callum like he promised.

Trudy makes her go see about Callum to keep her promise to Ruzek. She finds Samantha and Samantha wants her to agree to let her take the fall for shooting Adam.

Beck shows up and nearly runs them over. He grabs Callum and uses him as a shield as he tries to escape.

Kim holds Samantha back while Voight tries to reason with Beck. Kevin finally takes the shot and kills Beck. Callum looks absolutely h ateful toward Atwater, his hatred for Black people fueled more.

Voight has a drink with Chapman.
