Recap

Dexter and Harrison sit across from each other at the kitchen table. They make small talk. Dexter makes Harrison a sandwich. Harrison looks around the house. Dexter gives Harrison his sandwich. Harrison tells Dexter that he found his letter after Hannah died of pancreatic cancer three years ago. He informs his father that he was returned to Miami after Hannah's death and went to several foster homes before deciding to find Dexter. Harrison found his way to Oregon, where Dexter had previously resided, and then the search got even trickier. Eventually, Harrison found Dexter through Fred Jr.'s bowling team on Instagram. Harrison asks why Dexter is using a fake name, and Dexter tells him that "Dexter had to die."

Harrison goes to the bathroom. Dexter hears a tapping at the window. It's his vision of Deb, tapping on the window with the bullet. The glass shatters, and "Deb" screams at him. She appears behind him, stuffing the bullet into his mouth, saying he's going to fuck Harrison up.

The young woman backpacker, Lily, dries her hair in what appears to be a hotel room. She emerges from the bathroom to find chocolate-covered strawberries and champagne, which she consumes. We see someone in a surveillance room watching her via a camera.

Dexter gets up in the morning. Outside, he spots some blood on the snow. He shovels some white snow over it. A fleet of police cars shows up outside Dexter's house. Angela arrives, with her police crew, telling Dexter that Matt Caldwell disappeared in the woods, and they are hoping to set up camp at his place for a search. Dexter agrees, offering to make them food and coffee.

Angela heads in when Harrison emerges and introduces himself as Jim's son. Teddy tells Dexter to cover his wood with a tarp, not knowing that Dexter used it for his kill table.

Inside, Harrison chats with Angela. Dexter enters. Harrison informs Angela that his mother is dead, that's why he came up to visit. Angela tells him about her daughter Audrey. Dexter thanks Harrison for covering for him, but Harrison says it wasn't for his benefit.

Angela assigns areas to various search parties. When Logan notes that she hasn't assigned anyone to Seneca land, she tells him she has already got Abraham Brown of the Seneca people helping with the search on their land.

Dexter offers to help search the area where he knows he'll find the white stag. Teddy flies and crashes a drone as Harrison watches.

Lily vomits in the bathroom and then crawls back into bed.

Angela heads over to Edward Olson's mansion.

Dexter and Harrison drive in an RTV through the woods. Harrison spots the white stag. Dexter explains that it's a crime scene, as the deer was shot on Seneca land. He sends Harrison back to tell the police.

Angela meets with Edward Olson, asking if they can use his helicopter for the search. Edward asks Angela about Audrey, complaining about how her generation sees the world in black and white, failing to see the nuance of the good he does for the community. He stresses the importance of the charity he provides for the Seneca reservation.

Dexter surveys the scene, searching for anything that might incriminate him, cleaning a rock with blood on it. Deb taunts him. Dexter runs to a spot near the highway and plants Matt's hunting glove near there. He returns to the crime scene to find Abraham and some other Seneca people dismayed at the death of the white stag. Dexter suggests that it might have been Matt that did it.

Angela and her team arrive. Abraham tells Angela he believes that Matt did this, expressing his dismay at the police putting so much effort into finding a missing rich, white man but not into finding the missing Indigenous women.

The Seneca leave. Teddy ropes off the crime scene while Angela and Logan examine the deer. When they realize the bullet is still in the deer, Dexter offers to look into what brand of bullets he sold Matt the previous day. Fred Jr. appears, carrying the glove Dexter planted, saying he found it near the highway. Angela says they'll bring it in. Dexter offers his deer sled to help bring the stag in. Angela tells Harrison the high school just let out. As they walk away, Harrison asks Dexter about his time as a police officer, remarking that he'd probably be better at it than these cops. Dexter clarifies that he only worked with cops, but he was never one himself.

The high school kids arrive at base camp. Harrison notices Audrey.

Dexter and Harrison feed the goats. Harrison recalls how much he misses his animals, including a goat, in Argentina.

Harrison starts up a conversation with Audrey and some other girls. Dexter goes to his truck, where Deb remarks how normal Harrison seems. She yells at him about how horribly it's all going to go with Harrison. Dexter yells to the empty air. Tess notices.

Harrison and Audrey talk about Angela and Dexter. Audrey seems to think it won't last because Angela is "married to her job." Audrey asks Harrison to come on the search with them and introduces him to Zach and Scott.

Lily sleeps, still watched by someone in a surveillance room.

Gig, the butcher, guts the stag. He explains to Angela, Logan, and Dexter that the person who shot the deer was clearly inexperienced based on the internal injuries. Gig pulls out the bullet and hands it to Angela, who guesses it's a Hollowpoint 7mm Mag, which Dexter confirms as the bullets he sold to Matt. Dexter tells Angela he should get back to Harrison, but Angela tells Dexter that the two of them need to talk.

Harrison, Audrey, and the other teens head out on a search. Harrison remarks on Audrey's MMIW shirt (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women). Audrey and Harrison have a chat about parental figures. A helicopter flies overhead, and the teens hide.

The teens arrive at an abandoned cabin, which is their hangout, except there are unexpected locks on the doors. Harrison slices the lock and lets them in.

Dexter and Angela have a chat. She stresses that she's happy Harrison is here. Angela shares that she is not Audrey's birth mother. Angela feels that they will now be able to have conversations about parenting and share that burden. She gives Dexter advice on things he needs to do to get Harrison set up.

Audrey lights up a joint. The other smoke it, but Harrison declines, saying he has had issues with drugs in the past. Harrison tells them that both his mother and stepmother passed away. He goes to get some wood for the fire. Scott remarks to the others that Harrison is a mystery, and they go through his bag. Zach finds a sketchbook. Audrey stops them. Harrison sees them do this and returns with the wood.

Lily wakes up and searches for her phone, but she cannot find it. She notices that there is no way to open the door, that there is no way to get out. Lily starts banging on the wall. She sees the surveillance camera and approaches it. Underneath the camera is written the words "You're already dead."

Later that evening, Dexter feeds the police and search crew. Angela returns, calling off the search, saying Matt is most likely not in the woods, as the glove was a match and had deer blood on it. Audrey, Harrison, and the other teens return. Angela grounds Audrey, stating that they were at the abandoned camp all day instead of searching. Audrey is frustrated, saying Matt Caldwell is an asshole anyway. Angela digs into Audrey, saying how unsafe the world is, and Audrey responds by saying she is not Iris. Angela, Audrey, and the other teens leave.

Dexter shows Harrison his new room, where a cot has been set up. Harrison still isn't sure he wants to stay, but he wants answers. He asks why Dexter left, citing Dexter's letter. Harrison reads part of the letter: "Reach out to me if Harrison shows any dark tendencies." Harrison thinks Dexter left and faked his own death to get away from him. Dexter stresses that he was the problem, not Harrison -- he was worried about somehow corrupting his son. Dexter offers to be a father if Harrison is okay with the possibility of being "screwed up." Harrison says that all his memories of Dexter are positive, except for being abandoned. He agrees to stay for a while.

Outside, Matt's father, Kurt Caldwell, arrives. Angela informs him that they believe Matt killed a white deer on Seneca land and then fled. Kurt doesn't believe it, saying Matt would have called him. He believes Matt is still in the woods. He addresses the crowd, citing the power of their community and how they always look out for each other, urging them not to give up on Matt. Angela agrees, and the search continues.

Dexter introduces Harrison to Mr. Caldwell. Kurt is adamant they will find Matt, not knowing they are standing directly above the spot where his body is buried.
